Hi everyone, I'm finally done with my plan spreadsheet and would like to share it with you for feedback and in case it can be helpful.
I am 23, Italy-based, working as a software engineer (employed since 2019) and from a credit standpoint I'm basically starting from scratch (I have an english C1 CEFR, one italian university exam called Programming I which I should get evaluated by WES and a few IT certs which I doubt are gonna amount to any credit).
Mostly based off akshir and path_seeker's plans, plus a few more SDC's courses to maximize possible transfers, bringing the total UMPI classes to 11 (33 credits).
I understand that below a certain threshold I'm chasing diminishing returns and I'd probably finish overall faster if I took some of these classes at UMPI as opposed to SDC, but I will gladly pay $200 extra to make sure that I can safely finish within 2 terms at UMPI. I don't mind working some more if it means starting with one less exam to worry about.
A few key notes:
- I'm hoping SDC's Meteorology will fulfill the science with a lab requirement, but this is still uncharted territory. By the time I'm done with my Sophia courses I'm hoping matters will be clearer.
- My italian ACTFL OPIc (GEC 5C) could be worth up to 12 credits instead of 6; still waiting for their response on the matter. If that's the case I need 2 less GE courses.
- Google IT Automation with Python is unlikely to be accepted.
- I'm hoping my previous university Programming exam can fulfill BUS 245, but being a software developer I can definitely ace that class at UMPI if it only were to count as a GE.
Unless there's some other rule I'm not aware of, this plan should fulfill both the UMPI UL courses (6 out of 9) and 30-credits rule (33).
This will obviously be a work-in-progress as we get more info. Hoping it can become a finalized degree plan one day. Feel free to point out possible improvements/optimization based on my current IT skills.
While you have a Sophia membership, I would strongly recommend also taking Environmental Science there. This should be a pretty quick course, but will cover the physical sciences requirement if it turns out that Meteorology won't work and you do actually need Biology 101L at SDC.
Saylor can be difficult and you might not want/be able to attempt Corporate Communication more than once. I'm not saying that you shouldn't attempt the Saylor course, but I would be prepared to just take Business Communications at UMPI.
Approaches to Studying Religions fills the same requirement as Sociology. I would take a look at the Touchstones for both and see which one is easier to complete. Then, pick a different 0-Touchstone course for electives. https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/So...lency_List Honestly, I would probably suggest doing as many of the 0-Touchstone courses as possible. It's better to be a bit over than to be a bit under and have to take more time at UMPI.
Sophia's Micro & Macro econ fills one requirement (ECO-207) and 3 credits of electives.
As long as the Google IT certificate is on an ACE (Credly) transcript, it should be accepted as an elective.

I do not believe your programming course will fill BUS245. It's not a standard programming course. Also you need to complete most of your UL courses at UMPI. Keep that in mind. You will take BUS401 not BUS359. BUS359 isn't being offered in YourPace last I checked. BUS401 is very similar to BUS400. The Google cert is not in the transfer database. InstantCert's Business Ethics does not transfer in as BUS353. That you have to take at UMPI.
I would take Environmental Science from Sophia. I would not count on Meteorology from Study.com filling the lab science requirement as there is not a lab. No one has confirmed that Meteorology will work. You will need a biology course no matter what. So I would take both Environmental Science and Human Biology from Sophia. If you end up taking Biology with lab from Study.com then the Human Bio course will become an elective.
I took Environmental science on Sophia and it took me only 3 days. It was mildly interesting too.

By today I should know exactly how many credits the OPIc is worth and will adjust my elective courses accordingly.

So if I understood correctly it would be 6 total credits? Sweet.

I have read that they offer BUS 359 to current IT employees only, which I am.
Now, catalog.umpi.edu says one thing and YourPace is different, but I'm hoping this is something I can work out when it's time to enroll. I wouldn't mind taking BUS 401 if it comes to that.
Regarding the UL rule I should be okay, right? I'm currently taking 6 out of 9 UL classes at UMPI, even considering BUS 401 it'd be 6/10.
Yea, I figured IC's Business Ethics wasn't gonna work, forgot to delete the comment.
Also I changed to BIO101L + Env Science as suggested, so unless a miracle happen and Meterology works even without a lab. That's the plan.
Thank you so much btw, it's amazing to me the kind of resources this relatively small community has built to the point I feel guilty getting this kind of quality info and guidance for free. This is most definitely something people would pay for, 100%.
