Foundations of Organizational Leadership had more essays and more writing and more projects then all of my upper levels combined. I heard Brandman is even more intense.
The MAOL is not an easy ride.
Brandman told me to plan for a minimum of 1 year and the papers were at a minimum of 20-40 pages per class. I was like yup I'm out. LOL
Yeah. I'm seriously considering after this class is completed of just dropping and getting my $2 grand back for next term. There is too much writing.
The 20-40 for a final I understand. But the 10 pages for a milestone is ridiculously too much. This is more then my local CalState requires in a weekly basis for an 8 week long grad class. The sounding board projects are cool, don't get me wrong. But, there is way too much writing, on very, very, very, narrow topics. They spent our entire BA telling us to not focus on a narrow topic then BAM your topic is narrow.

Wow it must be REALLY bad if you're really thinking of leaving! I am surprised there's pages and pages to write for the Milestones. In undergrad they're a few sentences most of them. Do the Milestones at least become the Final Assessment?

Oh man! I am sorry to hear that. 20-40 pages is ridiculous. I can’t even imagine being the one who has to read and grade all that either. I don’t have the time nor the focus to read/write that much. I’m not that far in to my program yet, but it is definitely not that much at all. I am finishing up my first competency and mine might end up being around 5 pages. No length was given. Just a rubric with points to hit. I’ve peeked ahead to the next one on my list and I will be doing a PowerPoint. If you decide to continue elsewhere, I hope you are able to find a program that will transfer any credits you earn.

Do the Milestones at least become the Final Assessment? The first class wasn't bad. It was about the methods and how to APA research etc. The second class bam. I'm like these milestones... Are they joking? I emailed Jessica and Cody and they said no, the rest of the classes are like that. So that's what scaring me. I don't know if anyone has even completed or got near completion of this program. I'm noticing the further and further I'm going with this class, the less and less discussion posts I'm seeing. Plus, it has a plethora of articles/assignments that are behind Paywalls that you have to request from the "library loan system".
I learned a lot. Don't get me wrong. I'm already analyzing my business in a new light with new eyes. But, I honestly don't even think it is worth it to continue to take out FAFSA loans for this if it's this much work for a mutable increase.

But, if it's like a 15-25 page final I am 100% okay with it because this is Masters level work. but, how much writing is in the Walden MBA? The problem is I think there have been 5 milestones so far where I've had to do 10 pages each for them. so I'm alread ypushing 50 or so pages, and I'm not even near the final yet!

When I talked with my coach a few weeks ago, he told me that they try to do a variety of performance based tasks rather than just writing papers all the time. So for the current course (three competencies), I have to read a case study and give my advice. (This will be the approx 5 page paper). The second competency, I have to do the PowerPoint. And the third will be creating my leadership profile. They provide templates and you can submit your work to the writing center if you want/need feedback first. I can’t seem to peek any further than that. If I could just get the puppy, my son and my husband to cooperate, I could probably work a little faster. LOL

Another 1 am night.
My schedule has been:
530am wake up, get ready for work and let my beagle outside.
6am work
11am take lunch
1130am work
230pm walk my beagle
3pm study on UMPI's CBE platform and research topics for the MAOL milestones.
6pm eat dinner at my desk and read transcripts of videos etc
1am finish whatever thing I'm typing or article and save.
130am brush my teeth and go to bed.
Rinse and repeat monday to friday. Now for the weekends, I take a break on Saturday usually. BUt I spend 12 hours on Sunday.
I spent 12 hours day on this class, and I'm still only 60% the way through.
KEep in mind, I was able to do freaken 13 classes, with 9 Upper Levels in 7 weeks! But, this class? It's going to take me over a MONTH to finish. It's more writing and work than ALL of their upper levels COMBINED.
Honestly, I'm breaking down and I don't want to do this anymore. I just sent Jessica an email telling her after this term, I'm done. They did not design this with a working adult in mind. At all. This is designed like a week by week semester course. If I wanted that, I'd have gone to CalState where I get a home state discount.

How many competencies have you finished on that schedule? If I was working at that schedule, I would be a lot further along than I am.

Back on my undergrad I finished 13 competencies with an EASIER schedule than that in a single term. Plus 6 in another term within 3 weeks because they weren’t offered in the first term.
I spent probably 4-5 hours a day and took weekends off.
For the MAOL i took the first competency which is basically an introduction to grad school and a refresher on APA and how to search.
But the first “true” class is Foundations. This is the one I’ve been doing the 12 hours a day on for 6 days a week for over 2 weeks now.
I already sunk over 150 hours into this single class.

Oh my! That is too much. Maybe you can give Walden a try if they still have a free term available. They may transfer in any credit you earn. Only the MBA seems to have the free term offer lately. But other ones have discounts too. At least then you can give it a try and not pay too much if it doesn’t fit.

@ashkir I would try Walden first and see how things go with the MBA program, if you can finish in two terms, that'll just cost you $2700 for the entire MBA. It will allow you to accelerate at the speed of which you did your UMPI Bachelors. Here's an example of someone who followed my recommendation, they did the TESU BALS with a Psych concentration and then moved onto the Walden MS Psychology, they finished the BA in 9 months and the MS Psych in 4.5 months (less than two terms).
