Sorry, I didn't mean that you have to enroll immediately, but just that a good TECEP to take anyway, which would keep your enrollment for a year and get you a SOC course that you need at the same time.

Here is a spreadsheet showing your credits, and what you have left.  It's showing as costing more than it actually will, since I put in every sociology course I could find.  You just need 33cr in the AOS, and some are required, and 18cr of UL are needed (so 5 UL courses plus the capstone).

Once you narrow down the courses you want to take in the AOS, I would get them preapproved by TESU as fitting in correctly (you have to be enrolled for this to happen).  So, consider taking the Marriage & the Family TECEP to get enrolled, since it's an inexpensive test and will kill 2 birds with 1 stone (fits in the AOS and counts for enrollment).

Hello again! So my wife is almost finished with her degree. She needs 5 UL and 2 LL in AOS.
She wrote TESU about the final classes, see response below.  Would it be worth it for her just to take the TESU UL classes or fight through testing out.  Since the residency fee went up to 2500 is why im inquiring.  Also TESU didnt provide if the other classes are worth UL.  What are your thoughts please?  It seems that she can get out of the 2500 residency waiver by taking 16 credits with them.

• A Social History of Jewish Food (UL)  Coopersmith course SOC-399
• Sociology of the Ba'al Yeshiva Movement (UL) Coopersmith course SOC-399
• World Population (UL)   UExcel courses will transfer will transfer in as SOC-318
• Sociology of Work (UL)  Study.com course will transfer in as SOC-362
• Race, Gender and Ethics Relations in the US (UL) CSU-Global course I will need the course number and description to determine the equivalency
• Social Theory -SOC310:  (UL) CSU-Pueblo courses will transfer in as SOC-380 (is this course title Social & Cultural Theory). This course will transfer in and satisfy your requirement B Social Theory course
• Gerontology (UL)  UExcel courses or LL for Study.com courses, UExcel will transfer in as SOC-216. Study.com it is SOC-216 as well.

I have planned the SOC-380, SOC-399, SOC-399, SOC-362, and SOC-318 on your evaluation as they are the upper level credits you need. After these,

you need two more Sociology electives. Thomas Edison's Marriage and the Family SOC-210 and then Gerontology SOC-216 or The Jewish Child in Traditional

Jewish Society SOC-199 could fit there. Which two would you like? The Race, Gender and Ethics Relations in the US (UL) CSU-Global course might as well.


Please remember, if you do not complete at least 16 credits of Thomas Edison courses if you follow the per credit plan, you will be charged a residency waiver fee. This year's fee is $2,500. The other tuition plan is the Comprehensive plan, but for you to do this plan, you would need to take at least 21 credits in a calendar year to be worth it.

Thanks for sharing, it's good to see those course number equivalencies as they confirm a lot of the UL things we suspected.

16 credits at TESU is $16,000-$24,000... You "get out" of the residency waiver, i guess, but you're throwing away a lot more money and potentially spending a lot more time on courses.

Thanks you JSD i just realized that they are 500 per credit hour, so a class that is 3 credit hours is $1500! I kept thinking it was $500.00 for 3 credits.

If she has credits through Study.com the wavier fee remains a $1800 and at least two of the course options you list are Study.com courses (two down for $200 right there, plus save $700 on wavier)  - https://www.tesu.edu/studycom/  I would assume if she is going to take direct with TESU she'd opt for the TESU Comprehensive Tuition Plan (up to 36 credits in one year) that is now $7,519 for in-state or Study.com affiliation.  I haven't done the math but even with the 1 credit Cornerstone (can't get out of that anymore), the 3 credit Capstone and the waiver the testing out seems it would still be more affordable and quicker - plus you'd still have to add the costs of need books for those TESU classes  and you can't work at your own pace.
