Other affordable options that give grades are Patten University and Northern Arizona University (competency-based programs). Patten University accepts ACE credits, but I can't remember if NAU does. Hodges University's IT programs probably require a a higher level of math than you want, and you probably don't want to do the finance and accounting courses required for Brandman's competency-based, business program.

Outside of the competency-based programs and in addition to FHSU, Peru State College and Chadron State College are also cheap.

GPA's (normally) don't actually transfer when you go to a new school. It sticks with you at each school you go to. So, for your CC, you have whatever GPA you have there. For Strayer, you have a 4.0. For the school you're doing now, it's a 4.0 as well.

When you apply at a school, and send your transcripts, they may bring in your credits (obviously not your W's or F's), but the only GPA you will have at that new school is what classes you take there. So basically, at each school, you start with a clean slate and earn a GPA there that is separate from any other GPA you may have.

For grad school, they will look at each transcript separately, and a new GPA may be calculated however they want to do so (last 30 credits, last 60 credits, credits in your major only, etc.). But that will be the GPA that's used to determine if they will admit you, and you won't bring your GPA with you - you'll get a new GPA at that school for your MA courses.

Hi All,

I decided that attempting to avoid math in a bachelors program is fallacy. Since Fort Hays does not appears to have as much ACE options, I'd spend more paying for my general education courses for their BSG degree, AND, most importantly, longer to obtain their bachelors. Additionally, I'd have to take a placement test anyway and they may require that I take no-credit courses to meet requirements of admissions (I'm confirming with them about this). Besides, I'm rusty, but given enough time, I can do it. Also, my gut tells me not having at least 1 math class on my transcripts may not bode well with the Graduate schools I am looking at transferring to. So, I'm just going to buck up, study to slay the dragon, and take the required math class to obtain a Bachelor's.

With that said, I've decided on TESU, BA in Liberal Studies.

I've registered for ACE Credit, signed up with Aleks, Straighterline.com for ACE, and Schmoop for math placement test assistance. Anyone know what the placement test is for TESU? Within the FAQ, it only indicates that there *may* be a test upon admissions.

Also, should I wait to apply to TESU, and in the interim, study math and take some general education ACE courses? I see on the Wiki it is not recommended:
"To lock in a catalog, enroll at the school you have chosen. Alternatively, you can wait until you are all done (all courses/tests completed) to enroll in the school, however you risk the school changing degree plans as you're not locked into a catalog." The reason why I ask is because if TESU does require a placement test, I will not place well. Need to brush up first.

There is no placement test at TESU. You just take whatever math you want to take (I suggest ALEKS' Beginning Algebra if you need to start way down there, although it's not counted at TESU as a college-level course), and then work your way to Intermediate Algebra. At that point, you can stop because you're done at TESU. ALEKS' Intermediate Algebra will fulfill the Quantitative Lit requirement.

There are other math courses you can take to fulfill the requirement, but honestly, I think that ALEKS Int. Algebra is probably the easiest.

Now, go get done before 4/30!

You can do it however you'd like. TESU is flexible. The only think you need to do after applying is to take a TECEP at some point to become enrolled. Pick whichever one you want.

I read somewhere that COSC will use a letter grade for Straighterline courses. Is that true? Since I need a GPA for grad school, should I be looking at COSC over TESU, then?
