What's the Difference?
#1
Hello! I just registered to return to college (after being out of high school for 15 years). I was told that the first class I'm going to be enrolled in is Comm121 or English. I see the course list for CLEP has two different tests. One is "English Composition" and the other is "College Composition"- What's the difference? I'm studying using the English Composition right now...is this correct? Please help me out!

Thanks!

College Composition | CLEP

College Composition Modular | CLEP

Which exam you take is based on the requirements at the college you are attending. For example, at Thomas Edison State College the College Composition General is worth 6 credits and equivalent to a full year of Freshman Composition while the College Composition Modular is only worth 3 credits or the first semester of Freshman Composition.

If you plan to use CLEP exams it would be a good idea to familiarize yourself with your colleges CLEP policies.

CLEP previously had three composition exams: English Comp, Freshman Comp, English Comp w/ Essay. They merged them into just two exams, College Comp and College Comp Modular, in 2010. Study materials seem similar as far as I can tell, but I haven't taken either of the new ones.
