I don't know why ALEKS would care if you get above 70% on the pie chart...The two ALEKS courses I took, I scored >80% on my initial assessments and never even looked at my pie charts.

If ALEKS marks your original assessment at 16%, for example, it is very difficult indeed to suddenly get 70% or greater on the very next assessment you take without filling in more of your pie. Maybe it just doesn't even put more advanced questions on the next assessment? Now if you get >80% on your initial assessment, no worries at all, simply request it to be put on your ACE transcript. Awesome scores, btw.

Only the initial assessment tests you on all of the material. The reason you are not likely to get >70% on your pie after the first assessment is because it isn't asking you from 100% of your pie again, only where you are plus some more. There is no exact formula, however, I can recall instances when my son was taking later assessments scoring 100% of the questions (or missing 1) but that did not yield an assessment score of 70% because the "whole" wasn't 100%, I'm not really explaining that very well, hope that makes sense.
Let's say your initial assessment was 10%. You do some problems, and you get a new assessment. If you answer 100% of those questions correct, your new assessment score might only be 40-50%. I have no hard rules and facts, just based on our family's extensive use of the curriculum.

This might sound strange, but I've always found the second assessment to be the easiest; the first assessment is the second easiest. After the second assessment, the assessments get hard.
