VESI-like Tons of grad classes $110 per credit hour

Hey guys today I found this website Actprogram.info, which seems to be similar to VESI, offering courses for teachers the key difference is that they list a lot of liberal arts like history, political science, pyschology and sociology that would be perfect to complete a degree from the Big 3.

Letter grades are awarded and graduate semester credit is awarded by California State University, Monterey Bay.

The big question here is: Has anybody used them for a degree in any of the Big 3?
They have tons of good things that could be used as upper level electives for several disciplines.

If someone has used them before please let the forum know!!

I am glad to see more of these options becoming available. The school won't let you use them for its own degree programs though. That needs to change. If the courses are high enough quality for graduate credit, shouldn't they be high enough quality to count toward a degree?

Does CSU - Monterey Bay get paid much for any of these courses? That might explain it.

I just looked at these and it looks like they might be similar to Extension courses through the CSU and UC systems. Very few of those will transfer anywhere. There are exceptions, for example some (most?) of UC Berkeley Extension course have real not extension credits.

If anyone gets approval from the big 3 for these it will be helpful to someone I know who is just starting out.

TESC has 2 MA Education degrees and the one that doesn't require one to be a teacher includes no electives and allows 12 credits of transfer but those transfer credits must match the TESC courses identically.
Exelsior has no education masters degree and Charter Oak has no masters degrees at all. So what does one do with VESI or VESI-like credits?

I'm pretty sure that if you are a K-12 educator, you are paid on scale, which can increase with earned degrees and credits. My brother has Masters + 18 (?? or some amount, it might not be 18 I'm drawing a blank) but when he hit a masters he got a pay bump, then the next pay bump at 18 (or whatever it is).

These teaching colleges (and learner.org too) offer cheap 1-3 credit opportunities for this purpose I believe.

Now, what I found interesting, was the alpha-numeric. They use "e" to indicate online, but they still use department alphas: EPSY for psych, EMAT for math, etc. It might be possible.....to get upper level undergrad credit in those gen ed areas, but I wouldn't take it to the bank. My gut still tells me TESC would call these "education" category credits, but it might not hurt to ask? If someone is enrolled, I'd love for them to shoot off an email and find out.

A member here is using VESI courses as cheap UL credit for his social science degree. I believe TESC told him that some of the courses would transfer in as social sciences. Some people don't feel comfortable with testing.
