Test Help
Posted by: RG2BFREE - 06-21-2006, 01:36 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (2)

Hello All,

I just want to let everyone know how great this forum is. I have been a member to the IC site for a little over a year now. I wishe I would have known about it sooner. I have used IC to pass almost all my exams along with Petersons. The best advice I can give is to take full advantage of both sites!!!!!!!!
Okay the formula I used for taking these test is simple, I used the IC sight and registered free for the petersons site. Important I took every test they offered on the petersons site. I clicked "E" for the answer to all of them then went in and reviewed the test, when you do this it will let you copy them into a word document, I did this and arranged the questions in the % of the material covered. Each subject has 3 practice test so your looking at 300 plus questions and IC combined has been the BOMB!!!! After I study them I go back and register again and take the test to see what I score if I can crack a 70 I take the test. I downloaded the DSST book from petersons for "FREE" read about each one of the tests they offered to get the basics then hit IC & Petersons. I currently have over 144 hours with no degree...

Intro to Business: 61 (IC/DSST)
Business Math: 70 (DSST)
Personal Finance: 51(IC/DSST)

I took all 3 exams same day. The DSST book gives good basic foundation!!!! Total study time for these exams 4 days.

Intro to Mgmt: 61
HRM : 59
Principles of Supervision: 68

Again the IC and DSST along with Petersons are the Bomb. Total study time 7 days. At thisa point

Intro to Counseling: 46 I took this the next day witout any study....got lucky!

Heres to your Health: 61(IC)
Drug & Alcohol Abuse: 55(IC)

Take both of these test at the same time or a day apart!!!! I can't say enough about how important it is to use the IC. Total study time 7 days.

Ethics: 55 (IC)
Speech: 59 No Study used my military background

Org Behavior: 68 (IC/DSST) Total study time 4 days Upper level

Intro to Soc: 59 (IC/Petersons) the petersons came in real handy for this exam. Total Study Time 7 days

College Math: 45 (FAILED) total study time 1 month only class I need for the AA, what a bummer. My 6 month probation is up so I am going to order it again.

Waiting for Human Growth, Intro to Psy, and Ed Psy.

I took my first test today, after about a year of reading these boards.

Dantes Intro to Computing. I used Instantcert and took the CLEP practice exams. As other have stated here, I not sure I passed. I have 2 others at my test site waiting for me. I will take Here's to your heath & Civil War by the end of the month.

The hardest part for me was to "Just go and DO IT". I live about 2 miles from my testing site. Looking back, I ask myself why I waited so long.

This forum is Great!! All of you that post are fantastic. For others like me, go ahead take the first step and try it.

THANKS FOR ALL OF THE ENCOURAGEMENT THIS FORUM HAS GIVEN ME.

One test at a time,
Tim

  I Gave Up - Math....errr
Posted by: mom2LLL - 06-20-2006, 09:48 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (6)

I know this post will fall on sympathic ears especially reading all of the other posts that are related to this subject. I have just cancelled my College Mathematics exam. I have been studying for over a month now and I just can't grasp the concepts. I have used ALEKS, InstantCert, Cracking the Clep, and the Annenberg videos and everytime I think that I learned something I take a Peterson's Practice test and score worse. My last score was a 29

The funny thing is that I really like math. It has been a long time, but I remember being very good at it. This CLEP would have been my 4th one, but I think I might have to take a class. I only need 3 credits of basic math, so I might just have to pay the money and take the online class and get a tutor.

I am thankful for everyone's post on this subject because in reading them I realized that I shouldn't wait until the last minute and that maybe CLEP isn't the best way that my mind works with math.

Thanks for listening!

My daughter is in the Marines in Oceanside CA at Camp Pendleton. She is looking into a degree in Criminal Justice. I guess the Marines have courses available to them from Central Texas College. Anyone else have any experience in this area. I know TESC has a degree program also. I wonder about EC. I hope to turn her on to IC. Maybe some military people can advise me.

  English Composition

Hi Everyone,

Just a quick question for those who have taken Clep English Comp, I have scored a 51 then 63 on the Peterson's as well as about 63 or so on the Clep practice exam, am I ready?? The 51 scares me! I have yet to take any Clep or DSST exams yet, I just keep procrastinating. I am also plan on taking Analyzing and Interpreting Lit. which I feel a little better about based on the feedback here.

Any input would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Denise

Currently University of Phoenix BSBM student.
All UL courses done, just need 40 LL units.

  Non-Proctured -or- No-Exam Courses?
Posted by: ShotoJuku - 06-19-2006, 04:48 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (3)

I came across this topic in another forum I recently discovered and found it interesting.

Some have purported finding some schools that offer either bare bones courses WITHOUT exams or offer NON-PROCTURED exams.

Has anyone here ever taken anything like this - especially in BASIC MATH???

  Calling TESC students!

Has anyone fulfilled the Business Policy and/or Business in Society/International Business requirements for a BSBA?

I need both and plan to do the take TECEPs. Have any of you done these exams yet? What's the best way to prepare? Also, is there any CLEP which would satisfy either of these? (Its cheaper!)

Thanks, in advance, for any help you can give me.

Does anyone know if the English Comp w/Essay Covers all 6 credits of the written communication requirement for Charter Oak? Or would still have to fill the Technical Writing requirement seprately?

Thanks Smile
