  Finished with my Associates
Posted by: ImustStudy - 11-06-2007, 03:50 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (9)

Just a note to everyone to advise that I have received the "official" email from Excelsior that says I have completed my Associates degree.

I guess I am now technically (almost) a college graduate. (No one's telling which college or what degree program) Anyway, it is official and posted on my graduation tab on the EC website. (Maybe I will just prospective employer the webpage instead of the diploma, as it is very impressive) I will be conferred Dec 21st.

I am now finishing my BS in Criminal Justice with a Law Enforcement Emphasis. Does anyone know if I can take it without the emphasis and if it will be faster???

If I calculate correctly I only have a handful of exams left to complete the degree and perhaps I can meet the cutoff to get my BS in January. Wouldn't that be a hoot. Rolleyes

  Second Depth Requirement
Posted by: ImustStudy - 11-06-2007, 03:45 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (9)

I am told that I need to complete a second "Depth requirement" and that these courses may be covered by some that I have already taken in other area.

Does anyone know the scoop on the 2nd depth requirement? I am under the impression that I must have another 12 units in an area that is not my major, but that these classes do not have to be in addition to those that I have already taken if that makes any sense.

Does anyone know about this?????

My degree is in Criminal Justice and I have 7 units in business. I plan to make my 2nd depth a business depth by taking another 5 units. Will this work???

Thanks,Cool

  Grad school After TESC
Posted by: Paul - 11-05-2007, 06:51 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (7)

I've searched this site via the search option & have read a lot on here about grad school ect but I'm still comfused. If one starts working on CLEP/DSST exams right after high school (actually a little before graduation) toward a specific goal of say a degree in General Business or Liberal Arts (this is for my son & daughter, not me - I have 59 credits at TAMU from 25 years ago but my priority now is their education ) taking the route of having most of the credits before enrolling in TESC then graduating from TESC, will they be able to go on to a Masters Program if desired since (I guess) one factor in going to grad school is the grade point & the CLEP/DSST is Pass/Fail at TESC? (Forgive my long run-on sentence.) I know all three of the Big Three have their various pluses so I like all three but can anyone set me right on this?
BTW, you guys are great & this is a wonderful site! Thanks for your help!

  Language-related question
Posted by: cucalorus - 11-04-2007, 08:39 PM - Forum: Off Topic - Replies (2)

This is an odd question, but here goes. (I'd asked a friend who was going to help me, but he became very busy and wasn't able to assist after all...)

I recently happened across a Web site belonging to a photographer (most of the content is the actual galleries), and I'd like to e-mail the person -- among other reasons, he sells prints of his works -- but it's what I believe is Portuguese. It doesn't appear that he speaks English.

Anyone know a possible resource, or have any ideas, that I might be able to use (or speak the language themselves)? Unfortunately, translation engines like Babelfish are terrible and no good for writing anything in a language one doesn't know.

Again, odd request, but if any ideas, I'd appreciate it.

Posted by: Bonechills - 11-04-2007, 05:52 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (1)

Hello,

How do I know what I can substitute for a tecep? I'm working towards a business degree from Tesc and have to take four teceps. I see that there is talk about other courses, so how do I know that tesc will accept them. I'm also not a student at TESC yet. Thanks,

  Transcript status
Posted by: never2late - 11-03-2007, 02:58 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (5)

For anyone enrolled at Excelsior, how long does it take them to update your courses when they receive a trascript? For example when you take a clep or dsst, and the status shows they have received the transcript, how long does it take them to update your status. They received my clep results 3 weeks ago and still have not updates my status. Just seems like it is taking them a long time.

Just curious.

What order should I take these exams?
Posted by: WendyR - 11-03-2007, 11:15 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (2)

Hi -

First of all, let me say this forum is great. I have gotten so much helpful information the past couple of months by just reading old posts.

Now, I need to take the following exams and from what I've read it appears I should take them in an order opposite of what I was thinking, as some of the material apparently overlaps. The exams are:

CLEP - Principles of Management
Principles of Marketing

DSST - Introduction to Business
Principles of Supervision

Does anyone have any advice as to what order I should take these exams in?

Thanks in advance -

Wendy
