  REA Financial accounting clep book
Posted by: jec959 - 01-09-2008, 12:16 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (1)

Has anyone used the REA book to study for the financial accounting clep, and if so is it combined with IC enough to pass this exam. I checked specific exam feedback but didn't see any mention of this book.

New Here Plus a Note for Any Ohio Active Duty
Posted by: jason96r - 01-09-2008, 10:30 AM - Forum: Military Discussion - No Replies

I just found this website and have joined and still going through the information. I am in my last 2 classes at American Military University with a BA in Homeland Security with a concentration in Terrorism Studies. I also plan to obtain a BA in Criminal Justice from Excelsior College too, as I was a CJ major but lost interest and decided to change to Homeland Security. I will have questions about Excelsior in the future which I'm sure will be answered for me perfectly.

To all the Ohio active duty military I have just found that the University of Toledo offers free tuition in their distance learning programs for active duty Ohio residents. To any who plan to join you could be sent to Germany but you are still technically a Ohio resident. I just want everyone who is active duty Ohio resident to know about the U of Toledo free tuition, of course you would pay the lab fees etc. BTW, Toledo is quite highly respected in the engineering and medical fields.

Fastest Route To A Bachelor's and Testing Centres
Posted by: Degreeasap - 01-09-2008, 04:15 AM - Forum: [ARCHIVE] Excelsior, Thomas Edison, and Charter Oak Specific Discussion - Replies (5)

Hi,

I have been lurking here for sometime now and have finally decided to join this forum. I would like to go for a bachelors degree and would like to use most if not all of my credits, now the thing is, I did pursue a Bachelor of Science degree years ago overseas, but I didn't finish the programme I did 3 of the 4 years required, I then went into the television production and broadcasting field and have been working in it (from production to editing, encoding, formatting, master control etc) for over 10 years.

I would like to pursue a bachelor's degree, the fastest route I can get, I really do not care so much about the major as I my aim is to be able to pursue graduate studies in Communication and Culture. One question I have is this: which major would be the fastest for me?

I am Canadian and I live within the Greater Toronto Area, I haven't been able to locate a CLEP, DSST testing area around here, I honestly couldn't find one... well I did... Talpiot College, a Jewish Women's College and they basically informed me that I'd have to be a student at the college to register for the tests, ie not open to non-students! So my other concern is finding a testing center within the Toronto area, can someone please point me in the right direction? Thanks so much!

Sorry for my long first post, any advice, suggestions, opinions would be much appreciated.

  Excelsior Research And Writing Requirement
Posted by: ImustStudy - 01-08-2008, 11:42 PM - Forum: [ARCHIVE] Excelsior, Thomas Edison, and Charter Oak Specific Discussion - Replies (3)

I just found out today that I now must complete the Excelsior Research and Writing Requirement.

This was not a requirement when I registered and now they decide to spring it on me.

Has anyone taken this at Excelsior? If so, how fast can I get it done? Is it like the Info Literacy class that I finished in 63 minutes?

Has anyone taken it anywhere else for cheaper? Like at Penn Foster Etc?

Please help. This is getting a bit frustrating as Excelsior decides to add classes at their pleasure, despite the fact that I am already matriculated.

They have now told me that each time I add more classes to my transcript that they can "re-matriculate" me every time I add another class. Can thisd be correct??Anyone have a friend at Excelsior that can help me??

  Clep or DSST - Advice?
Posted by: barbara2bba - 01-08-2008, 04:11 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (1)

I doubt anyone has taken both, so this is probably a pointless question. If no one has read my prior posts, this degree is a necessity and is the only way I can get a good job in my field. I've been dedicating a full time effort to get a degree asap.

I have to decide between a Clep Human Growth and Development and the DSST Lifespan Psych. I plan on sitting for the Clep Educational Psych and DSST organizational behavior on the same day as well. (Most weeks, I will take 2 - 3exams.) The following week I am signed up for an Excelsior Human Resources Management and World Population.

The lifespan has some positives that I can get an actual grade so I am very conflicted.

Does anyone have any suggestions that my mush brain is unable to see?

GRE Subject Exams for undergrad credit
Posted by: Old Rusty Pipe - 01-08-2008, 03:16 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - No Replies

I've happened upon another school that will accept the GRE Subject Exams for undergraduate credit. Empire State College (State University of New York) will accept them for credits towards a major.

http://www.esc.edu/

The specific policy can be found at:

http://www.esc.edu/esconline/escdocument...lLearn.pdf

So schools that will accept GRE Subject Exams for academic credit:

Excelsior College (http://www.excelsior.edu)
Charter Oak State College (Charter Oak State College - distance learning college, online degrees, courses)
Empire State College (http://www.esc.edu)

What other schools will accept them?

  Need Non-Western Literature course suggestion
Posted by: hsing - 01-08-2008, 12:19 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (2)

Hi,

I'm asking for a friend who needs a course (3 SH) to fulfill the one Non-Western Literature course (Non-British; non-American) requirement of TESC for BA in English, under the 33 SH Major.

Would like to consider LSU, Penn Foster or other non-TESC course. TESC has available African Encounters - but she would prefer something different, if possible.

Thanks!
