Heyyyyy,
I know for Excelsior, the CLEP English won't satisfy the English requirement. Does anyone know if TESC will accept the CLEP English exam to fulfill the 6 English credits required?
I've applied to TESC, just waiting for transcripts to come, (even though i know i'm not going to get too many credits, maybe 30) and I'm trying to plan my test schedule. thanks!

I wanted to share an observation especially relevant to earning CLEP credit. I started working on my degree from scratch just over a year ago, and used CLEP for purely reasons of time and money. I love this forum, and this is a bit political- but since I know there are a lot of conservatives here, I want to share a bit about my experience the past 6 months.
In August I enrolled at TESC. My major is social sciences- grand total of 57 credits in that area. My credits consist of 33 in major, 12 as a gen ed requirement, and 12 more as gen ed electives. So....as you can imagine, I have done all of the social science CLEPS and then had to enroll in courses beyond that. (I just finished a 15 credit semester that was the worst experience of my life)
CLEP social science exams are very factual. Who the founders were, who the theorists are, stages of this, phases of that, economic relationships, dates, etc. I strongly suggest that conservatives and/or Christians use this option for earning credit in this category. I won't go into exhaustive detail, but keep your children out of ANY sociology classrooms (or online course) until you google the professors AND examine the course text book. I'm being sincere. You need to know who you are paying and what they are saying. I have worked in as a community college teacher for 15 years and had NO IDEA that teachers REALLY had the unbridled freedom to say ANY thing they please... to really assign papers like "500 words on how George W. Bush has ruined the country." The field is littered with people I strongly suggest guard your child's heart against. At nearly 40 years old I had to submit crap essays that were inconsistent with my belief system because you must cater to the fancy of the professor- he holds your grade in the palm of his hand. I can't fathom a young person exploring the adult world for the first time has much ability to understand the extent of the agenda....and what to do about it if he did.
An example that happened yesterday (B.H. College, not TESC) - I was docked 2 points for a comment I made in the class forum discussing gender equality. I wrote "professor, I respectfully disagree that the woman's suffrage efforts reflect the same agenda as the modern feminist movement." His reply? "Would anyone like to comment on Ms. DeRosa's offensive suggestions?" Feeling snotty, my reply was simply "Mrs. DeRosa" :p
The text for the course is the worst piece of trash I have ever read- I'm happy to provide the title by private message. It's into the third edition, shockingly, they must have sold enough of these to continue printing them.
I won't go on and on, but having sat through enough of these crappy classes, I will say that my children will all be earning their social science credits via CLEP if I have anything to say about it.... and I will, because they'll get it in high school.

I finally received my business policy TECEP and passed with a 79.
Thank you Geezer for your help and input!
Thank you Dawn for lending me the book!
A very special thanks to Kiwi for your help and support!
I took this test the end of Nov and because of the holidays it took a while to get the results (you have to keep on top of the testing center at TE or they will forget about you).
With the new Bus Pol rules at EC I don't imagine that many more people (EC) will be taking the test (for those students that will) it was exactly what was posted in the feedback section (I don't think they ever change it).

Hey everybody! Here's the down low for the Chemistry CLEP
1. Study Problem solving i.e. Stoichiometry
2. A lot of questions on reduction and oxidation numbers
3. Valence electrons and orbital shells
4. Tons and tons of chemical reactions like which one would produce a reaction. Note: some are impossible to tell but a little process of elimination will definently help
5. At least 5-6 ?s on Thermodynamics, exothermic and endothermic stuff, enthalpy and entropy
6. 3 ?s on Equilibrium. Know how to convert into fraction thing
7. Amphoterism
8. States of matter like which will dissolve first.
9. Some ?s on types of bonds, bonding, and what the bonds will look like i.e. tetrahedra, linear, etc.
10. Nuclear type stuff like half-lives and calucations.
I would like to point out that a calculator is given in the exam which is enough to do the problems and a reference of the periodic table of elements is also there to help. Some of the answers were easy to eliminate based upon significant figures and obvious wrong ones, so don't get discouraged if you don't know the answer. I took this exam cold and finished in about 20 minutes. I thought it was not harder than the AP Chemistry exam but should not be taken lightly. I took Chemistry 201 in freshman year in collge so failing this exam is no biggy. 75 questions in 1.5 hours. Very do-able. Just remember to try your best and skip the ones you don't know (like organic chemistry). Good Luck!

Hey Guys,
I'm only 9 credits away from graduating with a BSBA in General Management from Thomas Edison College, but I've run into a snag.
2 months ago, I took the Money and Banking DANTES in order to fulfill the Finance requirement for my degree and i failed by one point!
I must have one 3 hour course in 3 of the 4 catagories: Accounting, Finance, Management, Marketing.
I passed:
1. Sales Management (Marketing)
2. Management Info. Systems (Management)
I need a Finance class to finish, and I'm not sure what to take. I don't have time to wait around to retake Money and Banking, because I'm supposed to graduate in March.
Here are the options i know of:
1. Security Analysis & Portfolio Management TECEP
2. Financial Institutions and Markets TECEP
3. International Finance TECEP
Anybody have experience with any of these exams? I'm looking to take one that doesn't require too much math.
Also, you think its possible to take Business Mathematics DANTES to fulfill the Finance requirement instead of taking the expensive TECEPS?
Thanks for the help!!!
Nate
