Any Slovenian got their degree evaluated?
Posted by: Olivia4826 - 02-02-2025, 04:30 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - No Replies

Hi!

I'm curious if there are any Slovenians in this forum who might have finished their degree through degree hacking and gotten it evaluated by ENIC-NARIC? Was it recognized and as what? Were there any problems with the timeline?

I'd appreciate any info, thanks!

Affordable masters in data or business analytics 10k?
Posted by: Sarajane - 02-02-2025, 12:13 PM - Forum: Graduate School Discussion - Replies (8)

I’m looking for cheap online masters in data programs aside from Wgu.

I would prefer if it’s more based on business analytics or bi rather than pure data. I finished my bs in business from umpi and while they are in the process of releasing a masters in business soon, none of the upcoming concentrations interest me and they take awhile to release new degrees. So the bi concentration they want to offer may very well not come out until spring, summer or fall of 2026.

Most of the masters in data programs I’ve seen are almost 15k and more which I can’t afford. So I’m wondering if anyone has other recommendations?

"Beware the demagogues ready to declare a trade war against our friends"
Posted by: Jonathan Whatley - 02-02-2025, 10:59 AM - Forum: Off Topic - Replies (29)

Quote:The record is clear that when America's total trade has increased, American jobs have also increased. And when our total trade has declined, so have the number of jobs.

Part of the difficulty in accepting the good news about trade is in our words. We too often talk about trade while using the vocabulary of war. In war, for one side to win, the other must lose. But commerce is not warfare. Trade is an economic alliance that benefits both countries. There are no losers, only winners. And trade helps strengthen the free world.

Yet today protectionism is being used by some American politicians as a cheap form of nationalism, a fig leaf for those unwilling to maintain America's military strength and who lack the resolve to stand up to real enemies – countries that would use violence against us or our allies. Our peaceful trading partners are not our enemies; they are our allies. We should beware of the demagogues who are ready to declare a trade war against our friends -- weakening our economy, our national security, and the entire free world – all while cynically waving the American flag.

Ronald Reagan, 1988. (The quoted passage starts at 2:44.)

Will Sophia/Study courses taken before registering to TESU count
Posted by: waterv1 - 02-02-2025, 12:54 AM - Forum: TESU - Thomas Edison State University Discussion - Replies (1)

I was registered with TESU a few years ago, and got a degree plan that is still the same as today. I want to take those courses this month, but am not ready to commit to registering with TESU again. If I take them now and move them to Credly, will they still count with TESU?

Has anyone heard about Signum Magnum College Free MBA
Posted by: Heartstrings - 02-01-2025, 07:35 PM - Forum: Graduate School Discussion - Replies (21)

I am looking to complete an affordable MBA, not for financial gain or for employment. I came across this "free" MBA from Signum Magnum College. They offer a free MBA if you join their ambassador program and refer at least one person. I am from the US so I am unfamiliar about accreditation from European countries. Is this pyramid-schemy? Not sure. I went against my better judgement and applied with UoPeople and they tried to scam me. So they are a definitely a no go. Here is the link for the college Signum Magnum College

Skipping the Last Year of High School in the USA Through Proficiency Tests
Posted by: DragonDF - 01-31-2025, 12:12 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (29)

Hi everyone,

I'm curious to know if it's possible in the USA or Canada to skip the 3rd year of high school by passing a proficiency test or something similar. Essentially, is there a way to "hack" the last year of high school?

Does anyone have any experience with this or know if it's feasible?

If yes, what is the cost?

Thanks!

  Questions regarding TESU, & TECEP
Posted by: aluminumace - 01-31-2025, 10:26 AM - Forum: TESU - Thomas Edison State University Discussion - Replies (5)

About me: Between Sophia and CC credits I have 86 credits (all lower-level, state government may be upper-level at transfer), and I’m currently attending Liberty online, and will have an additional 9 upper-level credits in early March. I’ve had some road blocks, and have fallen behind schedule, and am looking into alternative options to finish with a Bachelor’s Degree within next 12-14 months.

TESU’s BLS with no concentration looks to be a good option. The credit distribution for the BLS states “Students complete a total of 42 credits of Liberal Studies courses that include at least 15 credits at the 3000/4000 level and no more than 6 credits at the 1000 level.”
1.      What classes would generally be considered liberal studies? My 3 UL classes from Liberty would be Photography, U.S. History, and History of Graphic Design.
If my UL credits fell ideally, my gameplan would be to get 6 UL ACE credits to make a round 90s credit, add on 9 credits from Liberty, take 5 TCEPS, then take SOS-1100, and the capstone, and graduate. I’m aware of the ~$4000 waiver.
2.      Do TECEP credits count against the 90-hour credit limit? I imagine this might be my greatest question.
I’m currently in the pre-planning phase, and would likely get started with TESU in March, but wanted to see if there are any holes that would cause this plan to fail.
