  Need resources for Introductory Psychology
Posted by: virgil - 12-12-2024, 11:47 AM - Forum: CLEP, DSST, and TECEP Exam Discussion. Also Modern States and InstantCert. - Replies (2)

Hi all!! All I need for my bachelors is 3 credits in Social/Behavioral Science. I think Introductory Psychology would be the fastest for me to grab (Or intro to Sociology), but I have no idea what resources are the best for that course...

Any tips/links/PDFs/Practice Tests/Quizzlets?

  Stuck in admissions process
Posted by: pacha007 - 12-12-2024, 02:03 AM - Forum: UMPI - University of Maine at Presque Isle Discussion - Replies (25)

Hello everyone,

I applied for admission into the BABA PM & IS program a few weeks ago. When filling the application form, I mentioned that I attended college in the US 15 years ago, but I had to withdraw due to medical reasons and only finished 5 courses. I was then asked to provide the necessary documents, which I did including a high school transcript evaluation since I'm an international student, an English proficiency test and a Credly transcript showing more than 90 transferable credits gained from sophia and coursera. I was also asked to send an official transcript from the university I attended, but when I tried to do that, I discovered that I have a financial hold for an amount of money that is impossible for me to pay off anytime soon. I then emailed the admissions team at UMPI and told them about my situation, but they still insist that I provide that transcript even though I have provided all the other documents and a resume showing an extensive professional experience and now they won't even respond to my messages. I have also contacted Jessica Winslow who refered me to the director of yourpace admissions. He answered once repeating the same thing and no response from him again.
I am very worried since this is my last chance in getting a bachelor's degree soon that will allow me to start a master's program next fall. Please if anyone knows how I can resolve this situation, I'm all ears.

Thank you!

Walden Tempo Learning Fees - Changes March 2025
Posted by: bjcheung77 - 12-11-2024, 12:35 PM - Forum: Graduate School Discussion - Replies (4)

Walden hasn't changed their pricing much for the Tempo Learning CBE option, fees are in USD as they're an US University.  It's currently at $3K/3 months, $175 fee, so that's just $3,175 a session and if you need 6 months, that's 6K plus fees...

Here's the fees webpage, they're bumping it up to $3100/3 months and 180 fees March 2025: https://www.waldenu.edu/online-masters-p...ology#fees

This is just one example, I would guess they're changing the pricing for other Bachelors/Masters programs that are also on the Tempo Learning system.  You may want to see which degree you're looking at, the example above is for the MS Psychology degree.

Here are the programs they offer on the Tempo Learning option: https://www.waldenu.edu/flexibility/tempo-learning
Their Masters are actually going to be the same pricing except the MS in Early Childhood Studies (two concentrations to select from).
MS Criminal Justice has this under fees:  You may be able to complete your MS in Criminal Justice degree in 5 months for under $7,000.*

Stipend-Paid Online MAT to Transition to Rural STEM Teaching
Posted by: Jonathan Whatley - 12-11-2024, 12:29 PM - Forum: Graduate School Discussion - No Replies

If you have a bachelor's in Biology, Chemistry, or Math, are already eligible to live and work in the U.S., are not yet a certified teacher, but are interested in transitioning to teaching in a rural high-need school district, you might qualify for a free MAT (online with in-person practical work), and a multi-year stipend to supplement your income, from Concord University's STEM Fellowship Program.

Help me choose a Doctoral program
Posted by: ArielB74 - 12-11-2024, 08:30 AM - Forum: Doctorate Degree Discussion - Replies (15)

I'm currently doing my MS in Organizational Leadership at Johns Hopkins. I have two semesters left to go and will graduate in August of next year. Right now I have a 3.8 GPA. I'd like to pursue a PhD (or possibly a DBA - I put one on this list). I'm doing it for personal reasons and because I have some genuine research interests that I'd like to pursue. I'd also enjoy doing some part time teaching (online) and maybe move to full time (non-tenure track) when I retire. (My dad had a PhD, worked in industry for 37 years, and then spent the last 17 years of his life at a large state school). My research interests are more on the Leadership side of things, but they are still very related to business, so could work with a PhD in Bus Admin as well.

Here are the programs I've narrowed it down to:

Gonzaga, PhD in Leadership.
https://www.gonzaga.edu/school-of-leadership-studies/academics/ph-d-leadership-studies
The main negative about this one is the really high cost. I could do it, but the other ones are half as much or less. School is more well known than others on the list, which is a plus.

Indiana Tech, PhD in Global Leadership
https://phd.indianatech.edu/program/

University of Southern Maine, PhD in Leadership
https://usm.maine.edu/academics/academic_programs/leadership-phd/
I'm kind of leaning towards this one.

Tiffin University, PhD in Global Leadership and Change
https://go.tiffin.edu/doctorate-programs/ph-d-in-global-leadership-and-change/

UNC Greensboro, PhD in Business Administration
https://www.uncg.edu/degrees/business-administration-ph-d/
Maybe a more useful degree than leadership? However, it takes 5 years to complete.

Touro University Worldwide, Doctor of Business Administration
https://www.tuw.edu/academics/business/doctor-of-business-administration/
I put this on here because it only takes 1.5-2 years to complete. Requires a research project instead of a dissertation. Probably a big negative for academia. School is Jewish-aligned which appeals to me as a Jewish person.

I should also add that I have over 25 years of experience in the software industry (non-technical) leading teams, so tons of real-world experience in leadership and business in general (currently at the VP level).

Hi all I am taking Human Resources management to fulfill my requirement for my bsba. I was seeing if anyone had any experience taking an epack or HRM. I am intimidated by the final test but also excited to take my crack at passing it. Does anyone have any advice ?
