when your first test is a failure...
#1
I am always a little bummed to read a post that someone has failed an exam, but I am always CONFUSED when a "fail" post is also a person's first post here!?

Really guys, IC works- the people here have taken all of these tests- the specific exam feedback outlines the topics necessary- chat about your plan and upcoming tests with people also studying for that test- ask for help- share resources- share links that YOU are finding helpful....do this BEFORE you take the exam and you will improve your chances of success!! Don't be a stranger, this is a great place to be Smile

I have used IC for nearly all of my tests and have passed every one. The subjects that I feel need more covering or investigating, I look up more information on the web. Or, I go to this forum and read previous posts.
IC is well worth the time, money, and energy! If not for IC and a few other places that I use, I would not be in online schooling, I would be in a brick and mortar place feeling as if I was traveling too slow...

It's hard to know how to get started posting in a new forum, so these folks might not have been ready to post anything until there was something definitive to say - like, "please help!"

I didn't feel comfortable posting until posting until I had passed at least one test. My first post was for when I passed US History II. If I had failed, though, I think I probably would have kept it to myself. Wink

I don't see anything wrong, really, with sharing if your first test was a failure. That person may have taken an updated version and have valuable information to share about whether the flashcards are still accurate or other study methods to avoid for that particular test because they did not work. I'd certainly want to know about it if the REA books for CLEP were outdated for a certain test. Although I think you are asking people to make full use of this forum by reading and absorbing what information is here first before they say, [whine] "IC doesn't work! This sucks!"[/whine], which is a hasty judgment. It certainly does work if you study and put the time and effort into it.

Also, I don't think that just because it is someone's first post, they don't know much about IC or this whole process. I was a member on this forum a few years ago, and I've known about CLEPs and such since 2001, but I forgot my screen name from before and didn't get my rear in gear to actually execute the plan until this past year. I'm just sayin', don't rush to judge someone as as a newbie unless they say they are. My $0.02. I'd like to see more people participate, whether they pass their first test or not. At least we could reassure and encourage that person to try again! Smile
