Anyways, care to share how you like the programs, the classes, etc.?
Thanks! Does anyone know if the amount of transfer credit which is 45 for an associate degree includes CLEP and DSST as well as B&M Credits?
Don't forget that gaining college credit by taking exams is one of the reason's we're here. That's mainly possible through the flashcards made available by the owner of this forum : InstantCert Plus of course your hard work in learning and reviewing

You do get automatically enrolled in the next class but advisors can make changes if necessary. I think I will try aleks for algebra. I think it makes sense to take Straighterline in some cases because it's faster and cheaper and the exams are open-book. For certain subjects that comes in handy.
I had asked my adviser about doing so but she had said that that was not possible unless I had a credit to transfer in for the class. Since my major was Organizational Psychology... not great odds of that. I also spent a lot of time playing phone tag with here whenever I had a question because her stock email response was "Let's discuss this over the phone".
It's definitely still a work in progress. A month or so, I got an email from Patten telling me that 45 credits from 2 colleges that I had never attended had been posted to my transcript. -_-

Here's what I found on their FAQ
Will you accept my transfer credits?

The acceptance of transfer credits between institutions is at the discretion of the receiving college or university. In order to receive a transfer credit evaluation at Patten University, you must send official transcripts to the Registrar. You will need to contact your previous school(s) and request that they send official transcripts to Patten University. Campus students must have their transcripts in prior to acceptance. Online students must have transcripts in within 30 days of enrollment.
Once your official transcripts are received, the Registrar will determine which of your prior degrees and coursework can be accepted for credit at Patten University. This review determines the remaining coursework to complete the desired program of study.
Course content and instructional quality varies across institutions. For online programs, the University does not consider grade points for work completed at other colleges or universities. Therefore, transfer credit neither raises nor lowers a student's grade point average. Only grades of C or higher will be considered for undergraduate credit and B or higher for graduate credit. In addition, the University has established the following limits on the maximum credits that are allowed for transfer into the degree programs.
Maximum Transfer Credits that May Be Awarded from All Sources
Associateâs Degree . . . . . . . . . . . . up to 45 credits (15 courses)*
Bachelorâs Degree . . . . . . . . . . . . . up to 90 credits (30 courses)*
Masterâs Degree . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .up to 6 credits (2 courses)**
* For Associateâs and Bachelorâs degrees, transfer credit may be awarded through a combination of transfer and/or credit by examination.
** For Masterâs degrees, credit by examination does not apply.

Are you serious? If I had had that kind of experience, I would have run from there also!

[Just got an email about a $199/m "scholarship" (I'd call it a sale):Enroll for any of our October 2015 start dates and save over 40% on your tuition. Contact your Enrollment Advisor or call 866-841-1986 to see if you qualify.]
I am looking at Patten, because in theory it would be nice to have self-paced RA classes with a GPA attached to transfer back to the big 3. The obvious issue is that you can't, it seems, jump between classes, and there are classes I don't need, or classes I specifically want a GPA attached to.
Also, if it takes a week to get back grades and you can't try another class then obviously it's not really unlimited, is it?

It doesn't take a week to get back grades. They are allowed up to a week to grade your papers but you can begin working on the next class. There is a misconception that Patten holds you up by only allowing you to enroll in one class at a time. If you have enough free time to knock out more classes, then you're free to do so. Technically, you could finish a class in a day if you know the material and can write a paper in the same day. Once I finished two classes in the same week and started on a third. I have never had any down time in between classes but the trouble I run into is busy periods in my life which make a self-paced program less ideal.
Also, math & science are the subjects that take me the longest to finish so I would NEVER take them at Patten. I did Algebra and Statistics for Behavioral Sciences at ALEKS. All my science classes were done at Straighterline. You can probably ask for a list of the sequence of classes before enrolling and then make a timeline for yourself. This way you make the most of your tuition.

On the average, my papers were graded in 3 days. I have had two of my papers graded and returned same day I submitted them. I don't have experience with single classes (courses) enrollment, but with the undergraduate degree package, Patten allows me to take one class at a time and move on to the next class once am done with the first. Am not sure Patten will allow you to take 2 classes at once... From my experience though, Patten may allow you to take a course before another. For example, while trying to sort out an issue, I asked to be enrolled in the next class while the current class be placed on hold. My advisor granted my prayer.

It seems you aren't looking to graduate from Patten. Then, just talk to an advisor about the classes you need and not need to take. I believe they will help you

I haven't seen anyway that they'll let you do that, and in faq says they don't allow people to just "take courses", although their course guide says you can enroll as non-degree seeking.
