major problem with Prometric practice tests
#1
I just finished one of those $5 practice tests on DSST Technical writing. First off , it did not resemble anything described by those in the forum who took the actual test, and it was only 40 questions, which I highly doubt the actual test is that short.
But my major complaint is that at the end of the practice test they do not tell you what would have been the correct answers for the questions you missed.
Had I known this I never would have taken the practice test.

The ECE tests cost $65 dollars and don't tell you the reasons behind the correct answers either. Since the tests are timed you can't even go back and look at the questions at a reasonable pace. This is the reason that third party sites, such as IC, and third party books like the GRE study guides are so important. They give you carefully explained answers.

I just took a ECE practice exam, I was allowed two separate attempts, and also was able to go back and review the questions and answers, they also had information in the answers that did explain some of the reasoning behind it. It was extremely helpful. Maybe they aren't all like that, but the one I took was.

Hmmm, maybe I missed something with the ECE Abnormal Psych test. I will buy the World Pop one today and try it out. That would be great if that is the case.

I haven't even been able to access the DANTE practice tests. I've been meaning to ask someone about this. HOW DO I GET IN THERE TO TAKE THE TEST???

Sorry... slightly frustrated.

But if I can't see the right answers, I don't know if it would even be worthwhile. Has anyone else had any experience with DANTES practice exams?

Yeah you can't see what you got wrong and I don't like that either. I took the one for tech writing before I took the test and honestly it was nothing like the test and didn't help me a bit prepare. I used Pass your Class Fast study guide- and did okay. I still thought there material was so so because it covered so much that was not even on my test so I felt like I crammed more in than I needed to....

For Dantes practice tests I don't understand how they think this is a learning tool if I can't even get what the right answers are!

I had never tried one- but that sounds terrible! I can tell you on Tech writing, you can googling terms and use free online prep.

Thank you for letting us know about these problems. That is definitely disappointing.

First go to this post and check for the exam you want. They do not have practice exams for all of their tests.

http://www.degreeforum.net/general-educa...#post53500

Then go to: ibt.prometric.com/dsst and complete the registration (at the bottom left of the page).

You should be able to find the practice exams after that.

I've been to the page you suggested and I have a username/password. But when I try to sign in (either by SSL or even First Time Registration) I always get this link. Prometric Online Testing - Error

This happens EVERY time. I didn't know if I was doing something wrong?

Hi Brittany!

I created a new account just a couple of weeks ago to check for a Civil War practice exam which they don't have. (The account is not associated with their online testing program.)

It let me sign in just now without a problem.

I'm not sure why you can't get in.
