Flexible Degree at Texas State University
#1
I don't know if all BAAS programs are like this, but I've found Texas State University's to be remarkably flexible. When I did a search for BAAS (bachelor of applied arts and sciences) degrees, Texas public universities mostly filled the first page of results.

Quote:The Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (BAAS) is designed for mature adults who need individualized academic programs that award credit for nontraditional forms of learning. It is designed to give working adults an accelerated route to a bachelor’s degree by earning credit for work experience, non-collegiate instruction and test scores. You may receive:

up to 24 semester hours for work/life experience
up to 30 semester hours for training conducted by business or industry if recognized by the American Council on Education
an unlimited number of hours from the College Level Examination Program (CLEP) and Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES)

This is quite fascinating. I wonder if there are other programs in the country that have programs modeled after the Big 3.

There is a disclaimer. You still have the meet the 30 credit residency requirement set by the Southern Association, which accredits Texas State. It took me awhile to find more information. Only UL CLEPs and DSSTs can be used in the major, concentration, or whatever they call it. They only consider two CLEPs to be UL: Marketing and Management. I'm assuming they use ACE recommendations for DSSTs. There is a 30 credit limit to credits earned through its correspondence and extension programs. However, you can earn as many credits as you want by ground or internet from the main campus.

Yeah, I noticed that several public universities in Texas have the BAAS. I just didn't check them out to see if they accept as many ACE, CLEP, and DSST credits.
