just starting bsba at TESU - register or not by 7/1/2016?

Hello everyone. I need to get a bsba due to a job requirement. Thank God I found this forum.

I just started reading the forums. I am not sure of whether to register now with TESU before end of this month? It seems that some on this forum say its better to do so and lock in your degree program versus waiting until TESU makes even more changes than they recently made.

I don't mind registering now and doing one of their classes or a TECEP as some call it? I have zero credits. Just getting started. looking at the BSBA in Management versus Marketing. Haven't decided yet. Leaning toward marketing.

Can anyone provide some clarity on registering now or later. I am not as sensitive to cost as I am time and ease.

It really won't cost you any more to register now than later. So if you want to lock in the degree plan now, go for it. With zero credits, any TECEP you take will count towards your degree, so it's a really easy decision to make. I personally would recommend that you do your math first, and sign up for ALEKS, do the Int. Algebra, College Algebra & Stats courses, and then do the Applied Liberal Arts Math TECEP. That will be a really easy one to take after the ALEKS courses, and get you enrolled for a year.

+1 to what dfrecore mentioned, we're here to save you money and time as you're looking to complete that ASAP. The method mentioned is the cheapest and easiest option, and the fastest to get 12 credits under a month. I'll explain when I direct you to some resources, when I answer your other thread.
You only need two of those courses, but since you're paying a month of subscription for ALEKS at $20/month, you can get 6 more credits (free?).
You may want to just keep it one thread for your questions, so you don't have to search the threads for your own question, no need to create 3 or more.

The BSBA requires College Algebra, so do the Intermediate Algebra as a warm-up. It also requires Stats. The reason I say to do the Math TECEP is because it is a VERY easy TECEP to do once you've already taken those courses. I did it after Intermediate Algebra plus some of College Algebra & Stats and got a 90%. Very easy to pass. If you've got to take a TECEP, and you're already in "math mode" then take that one and grab some easy credits while you lock in your enrollment.

I'm also interested in understanding the pros and cons of registering before or after July 1. What difference will it make to apply now or wait until the fall? I'm looking to transfer all 60 credits into a Liberal Arts Associate Degree.

And is it too late to avoid the Cornerstone Course? Today in June 21st... can I apply now and miss the July 1 deadline? Yikes, this is close!

I think it's too late, because if you applied now, it would be hard to register for the July term.

As far as registering now, TESU has had July 1 as the new catalog date. This is the date where a lot of changes go into effect (at least, it has in the past). This year, for whatever reason, they moved up some of the major changes to April 1, so who knows if this will be the new catalog date now, or if they will still make changes on July 1, or if it was a one-off. But, that is what they've done in the past, so people knew that if they wanted to lock in the catalog requirements, July 1 was kind of do-or-die.

Honestly, I think it's too expensive to do the AA/AS at TESU now. With the $2000 residency requirement, it just kind of puts it over the top. If I were you, I would look at the COSC AA instead. I don't know how much it costs, but I do know that you don't have to do the cornerstone, so that certainly helps.

I applied June 29th of last year and it locked my catalog before the July changes took affect. Call TESU to confirm but I think you just need to apply.

I didn't realize that I could just call them. I called today and they said the cut off was May 25th for avoiding the cornerstone course. So it's now too late. I thought others may want to know. Thanks!
