This does not sound like it's going to be part of the paper itself. I think this is more introducing the topic to your mentor to get feedback before you start.

That's kinda what it sounds like from the description. I just emailed the mentor to find out. The odd thing is that I've already introduced the topic through the discussion forum, and I had previously been under the impression that the written assignments were just writing the various parts of the Capstone. Hopefully my mentor responds back quickly - I will feel much better if what you're suggesting is true.
