As much as I would have wanted them to, Germany did not deserve to advance.

I don't know what the heck happened to Germany... just not their best team I guess. I also don't think Argentina did that well, and I think Mexico pulled its usual stunts.... doing well enough to give the country hope but then faltering terribly at the last minute. Pretty typical and now they'll be playing against Brazil next. Do I dare even watch?? Yikes!

No way! The only football I like is futbol! I know people say soccer is boring, but tbh, my strategy to get through American football parties is to drink as much as possible. So I just prefer to avoid them right now. Plus I feel kinda guilty knowing those guys are sacrificing brain cells for entertainment, but that's a whole 'nuther issue.

We've been watching, it's been fun. We don't have a favorite team, so we just root for a good match. There have been some fantastic plays that we've loved seeing.

I have no dog in the fight at this point, so like dfrecore stated, I’m all in for just good play.
My young niece seems to have gone all in on Brazil for an inexplicable reason, and I fully support irrational sporting fandoms (and my fantastic niece). So I’d support them as long as they’re viable.

Yeah.. I think Brazil is probably the best at this point. They always play in a very fan-friendly style. It's as interesting as the sport gets. BUT, I'm kind of annoyed with them this year for reasons other than beating Mexico. Their main guy, Neymar, is just behaving terribly! Google Neymar memes to see what I mean. He is going to win an Oscar for his acting at the World Cup this year! Even players three feet away have a magical ability to hurt Neymar and he starts rolling on the ground like a baby!! It's the worst acting I've seen in a while... and he's such a great player. No clue what the heck he's doing!
