I haven't taken a CLEP  test yet and I was wondering who keeps my credits? Until I am ready to send them to TESC. Is it ACE? If so how do they get credited to my transcript? Oh, and I am taking the mathematics CLEP so if anyone has any tips or encouragement...PLEASE post it!!! Also does anyone know if TESC will count the mathematics CLEP as math credit? (some schools only count it as an elective)
Thanks for helping the newbie! milelol:

I'm not 100% sure on this and I'm sure someone else will chime in and confirm it, but I think that Collegeboard will keep your scores for 20 years if you don't select a college to send them to when you take the CLEP test. When you finally enroll (or before you enroll) you can request a transcript from Collegeboard for $20 to be sent to your college.
(Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on any of this)

I don't know why you are going to take the CLEP College Mathematics since it will probably just duplicate the math credits you already have through ALEKs except for the College Algebra.
Attached are the TESC equivalent courses for CLEPs and DSSTs.
And yes Collegeboard will keep all your CLEP results for 20 years until you are ready to send them to a college or university for $20

:iagree: I'm with 101 in saying it probably duplicates your maths you have done. Also Clep are kept for 20 yrs by Collegeboards. If you are thinking about testing I usually suggest, Intro to Computers, Tech Writing, A & I Lit, Heres to your Health, Substance Abuse and any subject matter you might already be proficient in.

It won't duplicate at TESC (can't speak for other colleges). Beginning will come in as remedial (not counting toward your degree) but you'll get 6 for CLEP College Math, then 3 each for Intermediate and College Algebras. So far, no duplicates. Use the ALEKS thread to keep that straight.
ALEKS credit is kept by ACE as long as you send it to ACE (tell me you did that PLEASE). Once you change subjects, ALEKS has no record of you, so unless ACE has it, it's gone.
ACE holds anything and everything you send them- unsure about length of time.
College Board, as stated holds everything for 20 years. It doesn't matter if you use it or not- it's still held.
So, when you enroll somewhere, you'll request an official transcript from ACE and also from College Board, those will cost you roughly $20 each and then your college (TESC) will evaluate the official transcripts for credit. At that point you'll get a TESC transcript.
If and or when you were to apply elsewhere, for another degree, a grad degree, etc. you should remember that you may have to provide official transcripts. If you do, that means all 3, not just the 1 from TESC.
Hope that helps!
EDIT:
I pulled this list for you-
3 math/science/gen ed credits: 001 Beginning Algebra- TESC MAT089
3 math/science/gen ed credits: 002 Intermediate Algebra- TESC MAT115
6 math/science/gen ed credits: CLEP college math TESC MAT102/103
3 math/science/gen ed credits: 003 College Algebra- MAT121 *TESC Duplicate College Algebra w/trig
004 College Algebra with Trig- MAT121 *TESC Duplicate College Algebra

Well then firedupforjesus you should be sending the transcripts to TESC when you take the exam... there's no penalty for failing (other than wasted time and money, but they don't put a failed CLEP on your transcipt) and that way you don't have to pay the fee to send them your transcripts.

But I don't know when I will be enrolling with them. I thought they only keep your credits for 6 months...?

Are you absolutely positive they will take all the math credits? (minus beginning Algebra) I asked them and they said that as long as CLEP College MATH is MAT 102-103, Intermediate Algebra is MAT 115 and College Algebra is MAT 121. They will accept all of the credits.Let me know if this is correct...??? But will they let the CLEP test pass for college math?Does collegeboard keep DSST credits too?
Oh, and yes I have my ALEKS courses on my transcript with ACE! :coolgleam:
