Bachelors of Science in HealthCare Management
#1
I'm looking to start from scratch using CLEP and DSST. I would to get a Bachelors of Science in Health Care Management. If anyone has done this degree plan or one similar, please help. I'm lost on what tests will count towards the required credits.

Look at the degree plans again, there is no BS in HCM only a MBA in HCM. The bachelor's health care degrees are complex and earned either in partnership with Rutgers (health info mgmt) or by allready having a professional license/certification that would transfer in (health svcs technology).

If you are referring to the BSBA Hospital Healthcare Admin degree, again you would need to take the area of study courses (18CR) at a school that would offer those courses, they are not available at TESC. This is not an easy to acquire degree program.

You could test out of the general education requirements. Just follow any any of the current posted degree plans or take a look at the general educaton link on the degreeforum wiki.

"Setting a goal is not the main thing. It is deciding how you will go about achieving it and staying with that plan." -Tom Landry

TESC:
AAS, Admin Studies. 2010
BA, Social Sciences. 2010. Arnold Fletcher Award.
AAS, Environmental, Safety & Security Technologies. 2011
BSBA, General Management. 2011. Arnold Fletcher Award. Sigma Beta Delta (ΣΒΔWink!

I'm looking at Excelsior also. I would like test out of a large portion of the degree, but possibly take the professional courses online with them. I just don't know how long each course will take as a whole.

Excelsior does have a BS in Health Care Management. You'll mostly only be able to test out of gen ed and free electives. The rest of the courses will have to either be taken at Excelsior or another college. Excelsior offers all of the required courses in 8-week. Charter Oak offers a bachelor's with a major in health care administration and one with a major in health information management. COSC offers all of the required courses for both, but the HIM degree has an 18-credit residency requirement while the HCA program doesn't. COSC will be cheaper than Excelsior. Again, you will mostly only be able to test out of gen ed and free electives. The healthcare courses will have to be taken at COSC or transferred in from another college. In addition to COSC being cheaper than Excelsior, COSC will accept FEMA credits (which are free) directly for your free electives requirement. Excelsior requires that FEMAs be transcribed by Frederick Community College first, and they charge $79 per credit hour. COSC has 5-week, 8-week and 15-week terms.

I'm not really an expert on COSC, but these links should help you.

On the COSC website, the HCA degree plan is a little confusing. Do I already need to be in health care to complete the BS? Or do I just major in that with a BS in another field?
And what about TESC; how quickly can you take their courses?

You would have to ask COSC if you already need to be in the healthcare field, but I don't think it's a requirement for this degree.

I don't quite understand what you're asking here. You don't need to already have a bachelor's degree to complete this program.

TESC has 12-week terms, but they don't offer all of the required courses for their healthcare degrees. These are the only degrees that can be completed with TESC courses.
