i just scored a 60 out of 80 on my first practice test. i saw some areas i could use improvement with such as identifying literary devices...
What scores should i shoot for before scheduling the test?
Thanks!

I have not taken that particular peterson practice test so I can't give you any specific advice on that particular one. However, I did take peterson practice tests for Human Growth& Dev and Ed Psych. I was scoring in the 70's on both of those and that is what I scored on the real thing. I would say the higher the score on Peterson the better if possible. I will also say that the Clep tests were more difficult than the Peterson's but the I think the Peterson does help with getting you use to critical thinking, being timed, things like that. Plus it gives a rationale for their answers which helps you study as well. Also, don't forget to check the 'Specific Exam Feedback' section where other people who have taken the test will let you know what helped them prepare.

Most people say that Petersons are harder than the CLEP itself; if you can get a passing grade on Petersons, that's a good sign.
I'd be comfortable with a 70.

I would take the test as soon as possible....60 out of 80 on a Peterson's is a very comfortable score.

I agree, I think that the Peterson's are a bit harder. For example, on the Analyzing and Interpreting English Literature CLEP test, there was nothing about rhyming scheme- which I had worked harder one since I didn't know as much about it. Turned out there was nothing about it on the actual test!
