What does a credit cost at your CC
#1
I was looking to send my son to the local CC for one course just to see if he is ready for college (he has learning difficulties and testing out is not an option). I was dumbstruck to find out that tuition is $169 per credit. I thought that was a lot so I went and checked the price per credit at the CC's back in NJ. They range from $103-$145 depending on the CC. The cost of living in NJ is much higher then the cost here. I have twice the house twice the property at half the price and half the homeowner taxes here in NY. I just can't understand why the CC's are so expensive unless it is because they are all part of SUNY,

So I wanted to ask others from around the country how much is a credit hour for a part time student?

Right around $100/credit at a State College (4 year degree granting CC's we have here in Florida). The UL classes are a few bucks more typically.
MBA, Western Governors University February 2014
BS Charter Oak State College November 2011
AS in EMS August 2010

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

Mine hiked it up a bit in the past few years and is at $189.80 (on campus) or $200.80 (online). It makes me laugh that online costs more (especially since they refund the parking fees). Looks like they are now giving that rate to anyone in-state or not.
My completed "non-traditional" credits include 27 credits from CLEP, 30 credits from DSST, 6 credits from ALEKS, 19 credits from FEMA courses including PDS, 3 credits from NFA courses, 10 credits from ACE Workplace Training, 3 credits from a TESC TECEP exam, and 3 credits from a TESC PLA course.

$120 on campus
$211 online

The cost of online courses here is ridiculous, because we are surrounded by military bases and the local cc wants as much GIBill money as they can get.

The CC I attended in Michigan was $85/SH (now $95). Here in Nebraska (a few miles from the AFB) I went to one that is $53/SH resident, and only $79.50 for non-resident. University of Nebraska is as low as $196

Tom was up for a job at Fingerlakes CC last year. They are under-funded. I don't know if that's the system you're looking at or if that's a state-wide problem, but they were clearly hurting for money. In fact, they wanted him to buy his plane ticket for the job interview Smile Uhhh, thanks but no thanks.

My CC here (North Carolina) is $71.50 and if you've completed 10th grade you can take unlimited number of courses for free until you graduate. It's a sweet deal. But they only have a 10% graduation rate. (?)
Back in Illinois the CC in my town was about $100.00 and the school I taught at (Iowa) was the same for in-state, but for out of state in all three cases the tuition is up near $175 a credit. There's just NO REASON to attend a CC out of state as far as I can see. Is there any way they are charging you out of state or out of district or online or some other category of tuition? That's too high for instate.

The Fingerlakes area is beautiful. I took a class at Fingerlakes CC years ago. The school is in Canandaigua which is a great little town.

Will probably be up in that area soon to see the leaves change.

Ah, Canandaigua, how we have missed you! Our family lived there for 2-1/2 years two moves ago. Great place to live, great public school system, great community and scenery. What more can I say?

The community colleges in our area (CA) charge multiple fees. The enrollment fee is $46/credit with the other fees charged by the semester. This price continues to make the CCC a great deal and a huge draw to students of all ages.

I am closer to Niagara Falls then the finger lakes. You can see my house from the Skylon Tower if you have about a 100X lense. I have only driven through the finger Lakes on our way back to visit Jersy it is a beautiful area. I will have to do some more exploring there.

The cost per credit was stating was just for an in county non matriculated student not including and online or other fees the list was to daunting to figure out. This is Erie County
