What do you think about Peirce College?

I found Peirce College through Sophia Learning and they’re a partner school. They seem to be very transfer friendly allowing between 90-102 credit hours of transfer towards certain degrees. Their website, at least to me was transparent about this. I know it’s more expensive compared to other unis, but I think they’re comparable to UMPI or TESU in terms of accepting alternative credits.

There's nothing really special about Peirce College that makes it better, faster, cheaper than the main colleges we recommend here on DF.

Mi FtHi! Thanks for the reply! I did see the Peirce College wiki page, but it looks incomplete? There doesn’t seem to be any charts filled out for the degree programs like Business Administration. Has no one from Degree Forum applied and received an evaluation from them?

I have looked into TESU a lot and I do like how you can pay a residency waiver fee to just complete the cornerstone and capstone course. I’m still doing research.

Honestly, Peirce College does have a very generous credit transfer and they also encourage students to earn various certifications from Coursera like the Google and IBM ones for credit. That’s what drew my interest to the school. I’m actually in touch with an admissions counselor right now.

Once I get more info from her, I’ll share it here. I just think it’s good to be aware of many programs as possible. The main ones on degree forum are great, but it’s cool to consider others.

I would be surprised to see someone complete a degree from them considering the costs. Many people prefer to save money. Some want the word university on thier diploma. For TESU you will need RA credits which Sophia credits are not.

The $600 per credit hour in tuition plus the fees does cost a lot. But hypothetically if I maxed the number of credits I can transfer in for a Business degree (90 credit hours), the overall cost is around $11-12K maybe less if there’s certificates students can earn. Compared to average cost of uni these days, this is a deal. 

The only thing I’m worried about is Peirce College’s merger with Lackawanna College. Does this merger change Peirce College’s transfer policy? I asked someone after I got a call from Lackawanna College’s admissions office. They didn’t have an answer and didn’t want to give the wrong info. But they did make note of my question to ask one of the directors.

I mean so far, they seem friendly and they reached out to me after I sent an inquiry to admissions. I have a 30 minute meeting next week with admissions. Hopefully, they can help me with the transfer credits part and what will happen after the merger.

Update to the above. I signed up to attend their virtual open house next week too. I’m still in the researching phase. I haven’t fully committed to college hacking yet,

You calculated that hypothetical incorrectly: 30 credits (120-90) * $600 per credit hour = $18,000.

Even at $12,000 for 18 credits, I don't see the appeal. One non CBE alternative that accepts 90 transfer credits and a lot of ACE credits is the University of the Cumberlands ($6,600). Even though UC costs half as much as Pierce (almost a third at 30 credits), the other schools still are cheaper and faster. Am I missing something because this school just seems to be a more expensive alternative to Franklin University with a much smaller alumni network.

I must’ve calculated with Peirce College’s accepting up to 102 credit hours with their other degrees like for liberal arts. Listen, you’re not missing anything at all. I just happen to come across Peirce College while looking through partner schools on Sophia Learning. No one seemed to talk about it on here and I just wanted to see what everyone thoughts are. I’m interested because they seem to have a decent Business Administration program that appears to meet my goals. I know $18K is expensive, but if this college helps me accomplish my goals, then I can choose to attend or not.

Simply put, im just interested in how Peirce College transfer policy works tha’s it.
