What an Ivy League Phd thinks of us

Learning happens in all different ways. I am just grateful that I have an excellent alternative to my educational needs. I also openly share information with other students that attend classes with. There is this woman I am in class who has credits from all these different schools. I said to her “all of this and you will only have an AA this spring.” She listened and sent her transcript out for an eval at TESC and she is now on her way to a BA. She did 43 credits this semester, 10 credits in seat, business math test, foreign language exam 12 credits, and 18 FEMAS for general electives. All she needs is Art History 2 and English Comp 2 and she has her BA. She is now applying for a Master degree this fall. Now with the long hard painful way this single mom who works really hard would have been 2 to 3 years away (if she went fulltime) from this goal. And may I add thousands and thousands of dollars in debt. She is thrilled and thankful!

She has not told any of her instructors at school what her plans are because one of them had said to her “oh please don’t go to one of those on line schools.” Actually I do not think that this person that said that to her can do anything more than just turn her computer on. My friend is looking into a Master in Interior Architecture and there are no available degrees in that area of study in a 3 state radius, so she will have to do it online.

The world we live in is not “one size fits all” and people that are closed minded will never see the light of new and great things. But it is nice to see that your friend …PhD …has an open mind.
