West Virginia Northern CC AAS BOG
Anyone notice these folks are not very responsive? At this time, with my completed courses, once I knock out my Eng 101/201 classes I might just apply for an AS with TESU instead or go to Pierpont.

EDIT: Of course once I posted the above I received a phone call back. Smile The end out acceptance email/mailers once a week. I

I started a thread yesterday. http://www.degreeforum.net/general-educa...nning.html (I didn't think of posting here earlier.)

KayV, could you give me some input?

KayV Wrote:I want to say that WVNCC required College Algebra or above but I don't remember for sure. In your case, I don't think it would matter beyond being able to use the Int Alg for the requirement and College Alg as an elective.

Yes, I recently talked with one of their counselors and they confirmed College Algebra or above must be taken.

I have two exams left with Study.com. If I took English 101 and 102 with them, would all my credits fit into this plan? Here is what I figured from a template (I think it was KayV"S). Would this be worthy investment or should I just concentrate on my BA?

Edit. The Classes marked in yellow I have not taken. My signature includes all the classes I have taken. Also meant Study English 2 not 1! Also does Pierpont accept the CLEP comp?

Pierpont only requires intermediate algebra, if that helps.
TESU BALS Humanities, thanks to this place!

Can anyone explain the "credit hour posting" fee?

I read it here (highlighted in red):

Board of Governors Associate in Applied Science

"A flexible associate degree program for busy adults."

The Board of Governors AAS degree is a flexible degree completion opportunity designed for busy adults who want to earn a college degree. It can save countless hours and dollars in your quest to achieve your educational goals by awarding college credit for work and life experiences.

You can construct an individualized educational degree plan by combining:
•Previously earned college credits
•Credit earned for work and life experiences
•Credits awarded through standardized testing (CLEP, DANTES, etc.)
•Traditional or distance courses offered through West Virginia's community and technical colleges.

Your educational plan can be as individual as you want. And best of all, the program's flexibility allows you to complete your degree at your own pace.

Admission Requirements

Students are eligible for admission to the program two years after high school graduation. Students must not hold a degree from an accredited institution nor be enrolled simultaneously in another degree program.

Fees

There is no special application fee for admission into the program. Registration and service fees for enrollment in courses are assessed according to the established fee schedule at each institution. A fee of $300 is charged for a portfolio evaluation of work and life experiences, and a $10.00 per credit hour posting fee is charged for credit awarded through this process.

Degree Requirements

The Board of Governors Associate in Applied Science program consists of 60 credit hours. These hours include 21 credit hours of General Education courses in communications, social science, computer literacy, and math/science; The remainder consists of 39 credit hours of General Electives which may be met through your individual educational degree plan.

For more information, please contact one of West Virginia's community and technical colleges or the Community & Technical College System of WV at 866.TWO.YEAR (866-896-9327).

It doesn't apply to anyone doing transfer courses to the college, you won't be subject to those fees.
However, for individuals missing courses and wanting to do a PLA for portfolio credit, it's $10/credit.
Example, I want a portfolio of 30 credits, that's gonna cost $300 and the evaluation fee of $300, total is $600.
If you transfer in 60 credits, you ain't got anything else needed, no need for the portfolio fee.

That's only if you decide to go for PLA. If you submit a portfolio and you're successful at proving your prior knowledge, they have a small $10/credit charge.

Very cool. If you have an official transcript, or not, would you mind stating how the degree is worded, please?
We are all on the same side here, trying to better our lives....so let's get along and help each other out.

Learn a trade. Gain technical skills. Make money, then use this money to get a degree...if you have the desire.

Just wanted to add some dates to the thread for 2017. Deadline for May graduation is in one week!

To graduate on May 12, 2017, the graduation application must be received by April 21.
To graduate on June 30, 2017, the graduation application must be received by June 16.
