"Students are eligible for admission to the program two years after graduation from high school. In case of those passing a high school equivalency examination, admission must be two years after their high school class has graduated."
alleycat Wrote:Yes that is exactly right. Two years after graduation or GED.
jsd Wrote:And if you take your GED to get out of high school early, you have to wait for two years after your peer class graduates high school to go for the degree, not two years after you obtained your GED.
alleycat Wrote:Exactly it's the year you would have graduated. WVNCC is the same.
Thanks everyone!
So, I'm going to roll this around a bit and see if it's worth posting over on my FB page. Lots of parents of high schoolers, but I'm guessing there may be a handful with older teens/no degree. It's just such an amazing opportunity. I'm trying to convince my oldest son to pick this up, he's just a few SL courses away of hitting the requirements.
It really is a great deal. I am trying to help two of my former (resource) students with working on this degree. It would be a huge accomplishment for both of them.

Yes WVNCC has a great opportunity for people. As well as Pierpoint. I am sure there are several other school that offer this program at this low dose in WV.

I'm really thrilled at all these free BOG AAS programs popping up now after I spent $ 1600 for one class 2 years ago to graduate WVUP.

So if I am understanding this right, this is far easier and cheaper than COSC to obtain an AS/AA? They do not accept FEMA which is fine and I generally take most of my courses through SL. Curious with what I have listed below, which SL courses would be needed to complete this along with the free tech courses? Thank you

That's right the school did offer a concentration and dropped that with the big change.

Here are some degree options for you, HumbleAMG.
Sheet 1: COSC BSBA
Sheet 2: COSC BS General Studies in History (you asked in an earlier thread if that would be easier than a BSBA)
Sheet 3: TESU BSBA, for which you can use lots of Straighterline courses that are counted as upper level
Sheet 4: WV BoG AAS
I keep thinking that the ability to use SL courses as upper level would be great for you. You can't use the FEMA courses as electives, but it might be worth the trade-off. Knowledge is power; it's good to know your options.

Remember that AAS don't transfer as cleanly as AS or AA in some situations. It's not too important for our purposes here as there shouldn't be an issue with the Big 3, but for places that accept block transfers and such sometimes they're an issue. In the end, it being free is probably worth that trade-off since it's such a minor one.

THANK YOU so much for this. So question, it appears the WV route would be the quickest and cheapest to achieve an AAS, however once I achieve this, the transfer to TESU would not be as clean and I would still have to take additional courses. Perhaps cancel my COSC enrollment and just move it all over to TESU?
Thanks again, regards.
