Waiting for TESC evaluation
#1
I had taken ENG101 and 102 years ago both with D+ grades. Years later I retook ENG101 with a A- grade. That being said, my question is, will TESC accept my D+ in ENG102 or are they similar to Charter Oak where anything lower than a C in ENG is not acceptable? Thanks for any feedback.

Well, I don't know. However COSC (and maybe TESC) will accept the DSST Technical Writing for ENC 102. It's considered a pretty straight forward test that requires minimal study.
MBA, Western Governors University February 2014
BS Charter Oak State College November 2011
AS in EMS August 2010

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

Here is what my evaluation says which I presume will be the same for all since the Gen Ed requirement are the same. It looks like you will have to repeat Eng II either through them, CLEP, Straighterline or another option.

> of C or better.
Next Goal - MS in Pharmacy, Major Pharmaceutical Sciences, concentration Forensic Science via University of Florida

FYI I ran afoul of this at TESC. Tech Writing transcribes as ENG102, not ENC102. It looks like it will fit as a gen ed or maybe business writing? (which it is)

But it won't fill your second composition requirement.

PS I can't find the list of equivalencies on their site any more. Maybe they took it down to make it harder on us? Sad

Here is the online link, of course it's from the 2010-2011 catalog and some things have changed.

" Complete one full year of English Composition with a grade

This is why I asked the qestion in the first place. My ENG101 & ENG 102 together average out to a C+. That is a full year of English Composition or is it each individual course that needs the C grade.

http://www.tesc.edu/files/Degree_Plannin..._12.09.pdf
from p.4
It doesn't specify that it is an average, therefore I would presume it is per course.

English Composition
Every associate and bachelor’s degree offered by Thomas
Edison State College requires 6 credits in English
composition. Unless completed by exam (grade of CR), a
Grade of C is the minimum acceptable grade for English
Composition.

Upon further reading, I found this on p. 41

No D grades will be applied to English Composition, Area
of Concentration, Area of Study, Option or Professional
Component of your degree.
