Sailor test prep now less awful
#1
Recently Saylor.org made a change that I heartily agree with. Instead of having to wait two weeks to retake a practice exam, you now only have to wait one week (if you fail).

I love Saylor as the least expensive option to get credit, but the courses are bloated with material, and when you are trying to earn credits quickly, Saylor is a real chore with most subjects. Taking the practice exams, a lot of them, allows you to home in on just those areas of the subject you are weak in. If you have two accounts (no, it isn't cheating) you can take four practice exams in 8 days, and use the results to guide your studies. With diligence, you can prepare for an exam in less than two weeks.

It isn't a foolproof system, of course, but speaking from personal experience, it beats trying to get through all the course material, which would almost certainly take much longer than that for most.

That's because they're using the second or subsequent account for practice testing purposes.
Some people like to have extra exam tests to find out where they stand ... more practice the better they are within that subject.
I would recommend doing the unit/quizzes also to make sure where your strong/weak points are in that particular unit.

And the rule is you can't retake a failed practice exam for a week. Using a second account to take it anyway breaks that rule. That makes it cheating no matter how much you rationalize.

I respect your opinion. Nowhere, however, does Saylor state that having two accounts is forbidden. They've been at this a fair while; if they considered it a dodge, nothing is stopping them from banning the practice.

And the fact that they revised the rule down to one week from two indicates they realized people use the practice exams to, well, practice, and decided to make it easier to do so. I sleep at night.
