Thanks for sharing your firsthand experience, ashkir.
Good lesson here: While a program can be recognized as an overall positive, it's silly to write off any criticism as theatrical or unwarranted. There's such a thing as "toxic positivity," and we should strive to be more realistic here. Things aren't black and white, and this form in particular should be open to examining those situations that occasionally go wrong.

What's silly is to find a correlation to anything I wrote as being toxic positivity—perhaps moving away from defining a poor position vs. projecting with uneducated analysis. There was empathy expressed on the diploma delay in my first post. And as you incorrectly stated, toxic positivity is defending that an 8-month delay does not quantify a University as having 'a lot' of issues? Anything else to follow past this point is a collection of posts trying to figure out how to be off the main topic and still have the last word.

Uneducated, in retrospect, felt heavy-handed, and I would have rather used misguided. Instead of editing, I wanted to provide more context.

I'm not sure why you're taking this criticism personally and being so combative, but the points been made -- I'm not going around in circles about it.
I look forward to their future DBA, if they decide to go forward with it.

My wife completed her doctorate at VUL. The major complaints I heard from her, and many of the graduates at the graduation, was regarding the Registrar's office. They seem to be part-time, unavailable to answer simple questions, and there's a disconnect between the Dean of the DHA program and the Registrar that goes unaddressed

This was never in question, considering some had to wait upwards of 8 months. The broader conversation was on the school as a whole and the exaggerated opinion on the quality of the school.
Overall, the energy got off, and perhaps it's me defending a smaller university, especially an HBCU considering their resources are nowhere near other universities. I was looking for more Grace from some of the commenters.

I'm Black, and I'm not giving them any grace when it comes them misleading prospects and having rude, unprofessional administrators. They spent most of their history being unaccredited, and they weren't designated an HBCU until recently. Look at the other HBCUs, and you'll see that they were accredited about 75 to over 100 years ago, not in the 21st century.

Personally, I have been to prominent universities and I've been to small ones such as VUL and HAU. VUL lacks communication through channels and the leadership structure is all over the place. Even the support services administration is terrible at communicating with students from admissions, financial aid, registers, and graduation committee. I attended an equally smaller school HAU and they were able always to answer questions and get what the students needed done.
