I know these Certificate programs at UoPeople are relatively new but some of them look interesting like the Certificate in Network and Application Security. I would technically already have about 75% of the required courses so I'm wondering if they would accept up to 75% transfer credits like they do for their AS and BS degrees. There's no mention of the certificate programs on their transfer credit page.

Are these certificate programs being offered for degree credits now? I remember there was initially some confusion, and it turned out these didn't result in transferable credits.

Apparently the certificate programs are claimed to be transferable into UoPeople degrees based on what i saw posted on Reddit:
Quote:Hi there! Credits earned during certificate studies can be transferred within UoPeople if a student is later accepted into a degree-seeking program. However, if your question is if the certificate credits are transferrable at any external university, then the transferability of credits you earn at University of the People is at the complete discretion of an institution to which you may seek to transfer. We hence suggest you check with the respective institution about transfer of credits from UoPeople.
I also noticed that the course numbers match courses found in the degree programs and beneath the course titles on the link I posted it lists each course as being worth 3 credits.

Yes they are the same courses but they aren't for credit or at least they didn't use to be. I suppose that if you did them they would count for your UoPeople degree but wouldn't be credits in their own right. Generally those at UoPeople get them while they are doing their AS/BS. For me those certificates would have no meaning towards employment etc. Are certs such a big thing in the US?

Future degree:
MSc Criminology & Criminal Psychology - Essex University

BS Health Science 2024 - The University of the People

BN Adult Nursing 2020 - Portsmouth University
Credits: Sophia (81)

Certificates like that don't generally count for much in the US but I might take one for career development as it's pretty cheap.

I was just informed by admissions that you can't transfer in credits to the certificate programs. Since I don't have a need or desire to go back and do algebra, stats and other LL tech courses, I will not be pursuing this. Also, I went and looked up the syllabi and discovered the textbooks for the classes are mostly 5-15 years old so I don't think they'd help me "keep up to date" in my field anyway.
