University of Phoenix testing cost and options
#1
While I have 19 FEMA credits down, I wanted to CLEP/DSST a few as well as take up Straighterline (thought their customer service is still up in the air) courses to reach my AS and BS. When I dropped by UoP they told me their admin fee is $65 per exam. So my total cost per CLEP/DST would be $145+ each. This is going to add up quick. Am I missing something here? I'm thinking I should stick to either Straighterline or Aleks for testing 100%. I will be going through COSC once I complete 30 FEMA credits and several online test.

Thanks

Try contacting different schools and testing centers as prices vary. Some places are free, but Ive usually seen proctor costs around $25. DSST 's website (getcollegecredit.com) allows you to look up local testing centers.

Don't waste time by trying to save time. The only sure way to complete your degree is to knock out credits quickly and efficiently.

Don't let easiness bite you in the rear. Know your endgame (where you want to be) and plan backward from there. Your education is a means to an end.

Be honest professionally, socially and academically. There are people (especially little ones) who look up to you and they're going by your example.

Be proud. Whether you're an Engineer or Fast Food worker, there is honor and dignity in hard work.

Picking on people weaker than you only proves that you are a weak person.

Lowest I ever seen a "public" testing center charge was 10$ (that didn't last long), highest was 100$ (I said forget this one). $25 to $30 seems to be the average price.

yes- you just need to find another testing center. Testing centers are like grocery stores- they all carry the same twinkies, but depending on the part of town you're in, you're going to pay different prices for your twinkies. Shop around- $20 per exam is average.

EDIT to say "average" in the places I've lived: Illinois, Iowa, and North Carolina.

DeVry was free for years. Don't know what is current practice. $15-$25 is the going rate or private and public test centers in the competitive market where I live.

Proctoring fee in my area now ranges from $25 per test to, yes, $165 per test. Sometimes it is worth it to drive a little farther to pay a little less.

Also, someday maybe a MS in Forensic Psychology, just for fun.   Oh, and a BS in Animal Behavior.  And, maybe when I'm 85 a PhD in something fun.
