It's a little confusing how UMPI works, I know people have got a second degree from them, this person used the YourPace option for his second - Link: https://online.umpi.edu/articles/busines...egree.aspx - As recommended, it's best to speak with admissions/advising on what you're trying to do. For example, you may want to get a quick degree such as the AALS and BAS combo for now, but later down the road, you want to get the BS Comp Science from their YourPace offering - Explain exactly that to them and see what they say...

Yes and no. The degrees are considered terminal. So if you want to do all the degrees at one time, then yes. But, if you want to do Degree 1, graduate, then do degree 2 in another semester, no. You need to consider it upfront and be vocal with UMPI about your exact plan up front so they can approve it.
This is very important information. A student needs to do all bachelor degrees in one continous period, if they want a dual degree. It is not just the BAS or BLS degrees that are terminal, but all bachelor degrees. I assume that this rule is specific for the Your Pace program?
On the UMPI online degree site there is an interview with a currently enrolled student who first completed a brick and mortar bachelor degree, before enrolling a second time with the aim of doing an additional bachelor degree through Your Pace.
No, all bachelor degrees are not considered terminal by UMPI. UMPI's BAS and BLS are terminal degrees at UMPI. This is true for on campus students and YourPace students. Yes you are right. Terminal just means that it is the highest degree awarded in a specifc academic track. It is of course still possible to do a master degree in business after completing a bachelor degree in business.
The Your Pace online format still differs from the conventional brick and mortar format though, as you are not allowed to enroll for a second bachelor degree, after having completed the first one under the Your pace format.

You're misunderstanding UMPI's policies. Only the BAS and BLS are terminal degrees at UMPI. If you complete a BA in Business Administration then you can come back and complete a BA in English. Master's degrees have nothing to do with this.

If you complete a BAS you canNOT come back to UMPI for a second bachelor's degree. the BAS and the BLS are terminal degrees. They do NOT make exceptions for this. I know because I tried and was flat out denied because the BLS is also a terminal degree.

UMPI uses a different meaning of "terminal" and that causes confusion. For UMPI, if you get a BLS from them, you cannot get another degree from them. It doesn't matter if it's during the same enrollment or if you come back later. You may continue on to a Master's degree from them but you cannot get a BLS and then a BA History, for instance.
Thanks for answering, yes it is a little confusing. Just to clarify, a BLS degree, whether done online or brick and mortar, is "terminal" in the sense that you can not complete another bachelor degree at UMPI at a later point in time.
The original post states that it is not possible to do a second online bachelor degree through your pace either. It is however possible to do a non-BLS bachelor degree through brick and mortar, and then enroll at a later date to do a second bachelor online through your pace. A student interviewed at the online site apparently did so.
I know I am being a little pedantic here, I just want to make sure that I understand the rules correctly.

I am referring to the conventional understanding of "terminal". And yes I understand that the BAS and BLS are terminal in the sense that you can not acquire a second bachelor degree after completing a BLS or BAS degree.

This clearly rules out the possibility of doing a bachelor degree in business through your pace, and then going a back at a later date to do a bachelor in english through your pace.

Yes, exactly. If you get a BALS or a General Studies degree at a different university entirely then I think you would possibly be allowed to get a degree at UMPI? But you cannot get a Liberal Studies degree at UMPI and then get anything else from them except for a Master's degree.

UMPI has their own definition for the word terminal. That's what people tend to get hung up on. Yes, you can complete a bachelor's degree in business and come back for a second bachelor's degree. It doesn't matter if it's on campus or in YourPace. The policy regarding terminal degrees is the same on campus and with YourPace.

If what you are saying is correct, then a student does not need to do all the degrees "at one time". I do not know what ashkirs source it, but it is clearly not in agreement with your source.

No you don't need to do all of the degrees at the same time. He was probably talking about one specific person's situation.

There’s a lot of back and forth and a lot of speculation. UMPI will decide if a dual degree is possible. If you’re interested ask for yourself. I’m leaving this FAQ untouched. Traditionally they allow one degree from them unless you do both together.
Stop picking apart and min-maxing things and ask. There is way too much speculation on the brick and mortar school versus the online program.
SS is the only person to do a dual degree and graduate so far.
Again ASK UMPI if you want to do a dual degree. Make sure you communicate with them.
Also don’t hold your breath on an Associates or a BAS on UMPI online until you see it appear on the ONLINE.UMPI.EDU SITE. If it’s not on that site assume it’s speculation. If someone had something different their situation is probably unique.
If you’re interested in UMPI just apply and ask questions. You get a free evaluation.
Also please stop asking about proctors people! Looks like they may be adding them. Congrats to the askers

A few days ago I took a multiple choice exam and before taking the exam the indications said that I would have to have the camera on and show the ID. I was a little surprised that UMPI has proctors exams. I had to contact Cody and Jessica who told me it was a mistake. In my conversation with Cody / Jessica I believe that in the future it can happen. I took 9 proctors exams and it wasn’t so bad on Study and Instantcert, but I am glad that I don’t need to take it at UMPI.
