UMPI Degree Planning - Almost Done?
#1
I'd appreciate any help confirming my next steps to wrap up my degree. I enrolled at UMPI a year ago and then hit a snag with being understaffed at work and personal things. Currently on a break until January. I didn't know about this forum before I started - wish I had! I want to wrap up as fast as possible and obtain a PMP.  Then I want to move on to additional studies in the political and social sciences.

Here's my info:

Your Location: USA, VA
Your Age: 39
What kind of degree do you want?: Liberal Studies, Project Management Minor
UMPI Total Credits: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e...--/pubhtml

Budget & Time Commitment: I have a full time job and I'm a single parent. Can I still reduce time/cost by taking courses elsewhere like Sophia? My top concern right now is time and I'm willing to pay more if it would help me find more hours in the day. I have 10-15 hours a week for school. The bio lab course really concerns me.

Sophia's science classes are eaaaasy, especially compared to UMPI. Take Environmental Science and Human Biology + Human Biology lab at Sophia to avoid the dreaded BIO105 at UMPI.

4C & 5D: Sophia's Intro to Ethics. Also taking Ancient Greek Philosophers can help make it an easier class. 5A: Sophia's Intro to Sociology.

BUS440 is an IBM certificate on Coursera. https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Coursera It's been reported to be pretty fast/easy.

Some of the remaining business courses can be completed on SDC: https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/UM...egree_Plan

Reminder that you can only transfer in 90 credits total. Did you start with any transfer credit? If so, how much? If it's close to 90, definitely focus on the science classes at Sophia and get those out of the way to save yourself the headache.
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA

Completed:
Pierpont - AAS BOG
Sophia (so many), The Institutes (old), Study.com (5 courses)
ASU: Human Origins, Astronomy, Intro Health & Wellness, Western Civilization, Computer Appls & Info Technology, Intro Programming
Strayer: CIS175, CIS111, WRK100, MAT210

Exactly that, in addition though, you need to make sure to take 30 credits at UMPI for residency requirements. If you need, you can add an extra minor to get those residency credits OR take the 3-4 classes that can provide an exemption for UMPI MAOL.

If you haven't already, be sure to sign up with PMI while you're an active student. Their membership is very low for students and gives you a discount on the PMP exam. Here are some tips on the PMP exam prep from another forum member that I found very helpful - https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...a-be-a-PMP

I highly recommend you fill all free electives with Political Science classes since you are interested in that space and they are generally fast paced and the professor is a super fast and fair grader.
