UMHB MyWay CBE BAS Now Welcomes International Students

It looks like the University of Mary Hardin–Baylor (UMHB)'s subscription-priced, competency-based MyWay degree programs now generally welcome students outside the US.

The landing page for the Bachelor of Applied Studies (BAS) in Organizational Leadership now indicates students residing outside the U.S. can be accepted subject to a TOEFL or IELTS minimum test score.

The new Bachelor of Applied Studies in Worship Leadership (i.e., music ministry) is intended explicitly for students "around the globe."

Both programs are $3250 per 6-month term.

The other two MyWay programs are an RN-to-BSN and an alternative teacher certification program, which are likely specific to the US.

A DF post from bjcheung77 indicates that as of March 2022 MyWay stopped accepting alt-credit from ACE/NCCRS providers such as Sophia and Study.com. Update: UMHB might have opened the door part way to alt-credit since. The Transfer of Credit page in the 2023-2024 MyWay catalog states "Students may transfer in 30% or less of total program credit hours from non-degree awarding college course providers."

It's only worth 30%, if there is a specific degree you want and also have the RA credits or foreign credits (if they accept it towards that), then you can do up to 30% worth with alternative credits towards the degree. I think it's a great starting point to get back into the alternative credit arena, but not enough to make them competitive enough to those who take up to 90 credits or 75% of the program.
