UDEMEX Universidad Digital del Estado de Mexico
#1
Yup, there is yet another inexpensive online university for people with a good mastery of Spanish and ideally a CURP number. It seems like with the immense success of the Guanajuato State University offering a sibling Online school that other states in the country would end up opening their own.
This school doesn't seem to be affiliated with the Autonomous State U of the State of Mexico (known as the UAEMX school). Looks like a brand new university pushed by the federal government to bring low cost online degrees to more people. And the price is hard to beat. Their bachelors only cost 5000 MXN (260 USD) a year and their bachelors are 3 years long.

The real cost seems to be the titulation which demands a thesis and paying sinodales. Around 10,000 MXN (530 usd). I am not sure if some of these titulation fees are for everyone or the school has different graduation modalities which have been rightfully increasing in popularity such as doing 4 month certificate programs to graduate at the UNAM. But even so, getting a complete bachelors degree for less than 1400 USD could interest some folk.

The variety of degrees is very sparse and they are similar to the UNAM online university in the sense they only start 3 times a year instead of every 8 weeks like the UVEG. They have class starting dates in January and September. Just like the UVEG, this school demands a servicio social or community service. It could be difficult finding online options for students.

Masters degrees cost 27,000 mxn (1300 usd) without including the titulation, total 3000 usd.
Doctorates cost 23,736 mxn (1200 usd), so along with titulation, around 31,600 mxn including titulation (1660 usd).

While everything including the final exam of the degrees are online, you have to physically travel to offices in the State of Mexico to present documents. There are emails of coordinators that receive these documents. I cannot confirm if they would allow applicants abroad to send them by fedex or dhl. The emails of each coordinator is listed. Applicants could send them an email, explain they live too far away and ask if they'd accept shipped documents like the UVEG does. Maybe with some luck, one coordinator will accept this option and allow the entire degree to be done fully online.

The Udemex has these degrees:

Bachelors:
It and digital business
Public security ( degree program seems to be Criminal Justice focused)
Sales
Information administration (less technology and more management focused)
Psychology

Masters:
Public administration
Digital education technology (online classes)
Business Innovation

Doctorate:
Education innovation

For licenciaturas (bachelors) you still need to do the "servicio social". Finding a way to do it can be key, since it can be the most difficult part (does not mean it will be).

Tech also mentions the need for "servicio social" to get their bachelors, however, after chatting with their sales representative, they said that "it´s just an internal process, don´t worry about that". So maybe this university could also find an alternative.

Yup, the servicio is always the most meddlesome part of these Mexican online schools. The good news is I just found out that a bunch of the schools let you do the service at any Mexican embassy or consulate worldwide!

The Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores has a partnership with the Uveg, IEU and also the Universidad México España where you work 4 hours a day, 5 days a week unpaid internship for minimum 80 hours maximum 300 hours. Any Mexican office worldwide and non mexican citizens are also accepted!

Mexico has consulates and embassies in these cities in the US: Atlanta, Seattle, Douglas (Arizona), Pheonix, Nogales, Tucson, Yuma, Little Rock, Calexico, Fresno, Los Angeles, Oxnard, Sacramento, San Diego, San Bernardino, San Francisco, San Jose, Santa Ana, Raleigh, Denver, Boston, St. Paul (Minnesota), Philadelphia, Orlando, Miami, Boise, Chicago, Indianapolis, Omaha, Kansas City, New Orleans, Washington DC, Detroit, Milwaukee, Las Vegas, New Brunswick (New Jersey), New York, Albuquerque, El Paso, Oklahoma, Portland, Austin, Brownsville, Dallas, Del Rio (Texas), Houston, Eagle Pass, Laredo, McAllen, Presidio, San Antonio, and Salt Lake City.

And these are just the SRE offices in the US, there's also a few offices in Canada and worldwide in all sorts of exotic locations. Perth Australia and Wellington New Zealand have consulates. The student has to arrange their visas and lodging, but this could be a fabulous option for people wanting to go to the UVEG from the US or other parts of Latin America.

Sadly, I checked and the Udemex does not qualify for the embassy social service option for now. The SRE allows a person to do maximum 2 social services with them during their lifetime.

As per their FAQ page, Tech is now registered as separate universities in Spain, Andorra, Mexico, Costa Rica, Peru, Colombia, and Venezuela. Having said so, the same FAQ page only seems to mention the Spanish, Mexican, and Andorran counterparts being the viable options to award official degrees at various levels.

It may pay to research these options in more depth before settling on a Tech degree, as it seems each country has different requirements in terms of internships, final projects, etc.

Somehow, I am not surprised you'd get a generic auto reply. From the telephone's area code, the school's physical office is probably located in Toluca.

I´m not sure how "auto" was that reply, as it took days.

I agree. Maybe the IT staff had never had someone living abroad asking for info before and didn’t know how to answer. There is the option of making an appointment. Might offer better chances of getting info from an advisor.
