I was wondering if someone knew more on this topic?

I'm trying to get my Associates first from a local college that accepts unlimited CLEPS/DSST. I'd say more than half my degree will be CLEPS/DSST. Now when I want to transfer to a four year university, will they take my Associates as a whole, or will they pick it apart and see half the degree when from CLEP/DSST courses and only award me with what they accept? Basically if I take the Accounting DSST, my college gives me credit for "ACG2001 Financial Accounting", how do most colleges look at this? As I got credit from my college for completing this course or as a CLEP.

It depends on the individual college you plan to transfer to. Contact the registrar's office of the school you plan to transfer to, and ask them.

What college are you planning to get your associates from?

Typically if the college has articulation agreements with particular 4 year Colleges then yes, the whole degree should transfer. This is often the case among in state institutions. In Florida for example it's true (pretty much) that any public Cc transfers into most public 4 year programs.

Otherwise it is evaluated based on the policies of the receiving college.

My daughter completed her AA at the local CC with roughly 30 earned credits and 30 CLEP, HES only accepts 12 credits in CLEP, so she has those 18 or so credits that have to be made up with classes.

Like Rebel points out, it's all about whether or not you have an articulation agreement with the college you're transferring to. Go to your CC advisor and be sure you're in an agreement. If you are, then your degree will transfer as a block (not individually evaluated credits) if that is part of the agreement. What you are asking is a very good question, and shows good planning-this will work as long as you just double check the details.
Additionally, you'll have to finish the degree prior to transfer. Stopping short of earning the degree means you'll get each credit evaluated individually- and in that case, the receiving university's CLEP policy will apply. Inside the agreement your CC's CLEP policy will apply.

Thank you all for the quick replies. I'm at a local CC in Florida, but was hoping to transfer to a university in Maryland. I'm military and I'm originally from Maryland. My plan was to get my associates here in Florida, transfer it to a university in MD, and attend school full time. It sounds much easier to just continue my education here in Florida, though. Not a problem for me, but was hoping I could go back closer to home.

I'd take a good look at these, Online Bachelor Completion Programs

I think being military you may find favorable rates, its a very well known and respected school, your AA/AS should be pretty seamless, and the programs listed are 100% online...so it won't matter where you move.

....and you get a team to root for every Saturday during football season.

edited to add....they should take up to 90 credits by exam in most programs (things like engineering get picky).

Bellevue University doesn't require an articulation agreement. They'll accept an associate's as a block transfer from just about anywhere (I can't remember if they require regional accreditation).

Will you be using the Post 911 gi bill to pay for school? Make sure you check the school's zip code for the BAH rates. sometimes traveling just 20 min further to go to school can be an extra $500 a month.
