How do I complete the 10 courses I need to do at UMPI online?
#1
I just received a Pierpont associate's degree with area of emphasis Information Systems. And now I'm looking to move on to a UMPI bachelor's degree and finish that in the easiest and quickest way possible. And would greatly appreciate some help planning what courses to do and where.

According to this you need to do 30 credits at UMPI or 10 courses: https://www.umpi.edu/files/academics/pro...ce_BAS.pdf

And I think you need to do a minor at UMPI.

Maybe the minor you can do as YouPace courses mentioned here: https://www.umpi.edu/yourpace/academic_p...r/#courses. Can you do minor or some of the courses for the minor from outside like at Coursera or something, it doesn't seem like it but I want to make sure if there's any easier way?

For the 10 courses I need to do at UMPI do I just do this: https://www.umpi.edu/yourpace/academic_p...r/#courses. And what other courses do you all suggest doing at UMPI that would be the easiest? Can I do these courses online? Can I do these courses as YourPace courses or do I need to do regular courses online at UMPI (but YourPace courses seem to be only for minors and not as electives)? If I need to do regular courses at UMPI online, how long do these take, or do they take a semester or is there any way to complete the courses faster, and are they graded by a human/person?

Also one thing I'm a little confused about is the courses on this page that it says you can bring in from outside amount to 112 credits with the Information Systems area of emphasis, leaving only 8 credits to do at UMPI: https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Pi...egree_Plan. But don't you need to do 30 credits or 10 courses at UMPI?

Thank you.

Oh hey, you're back with the questions, great stuff! I remember you as the person who just asks questions but doesn't really want to provide any (personal) info, and answered me with more questions instead of answering my inquiry to get more details...

Hmm, in any case, the cheapest, easiest, and fastest way, is to apply to UMPI, get an evaluation and then update us with the remaining credits, thus we know what you have and what you need! Otherwise, you're asking us for to do your homework, without providing us the homework.

Otherwise, just like the other threads (which I've answered, you were reluctant to answer our questions, we're not here to ask you any personal details, you want to provide as much info there is so we can help you further). It's like giving us a puzzle, but missing half the pieces, until we ask for it.

Again, the more we know, the more we can help... Thus, reply back, when you have the academic evaluation with the yellow highlights indicating what's remaining. In the time period you're waiting, the answers are "yes to all", 10 classes are required at minimum for residency at UMPI.

All degrees at UMPI require 120 credits. You can transfer in 5000 credits and only 90 will still apply to your degree as you're required to complete a minimum of 30 credits at UMPI. You also have to complete all of the degree requirements including the GEC, general electives, and major and minor (if you have one) requirements.

Do you have the 40 technical credits to go for the UMPI BAS, or are you going for a different  degree at UMPI? I almost assume you're going for the BAS, as this is common for those here who complete the Pierpont with a IS AOS - https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/UM...egree_Plan. Either way, you do have to complete 30 credits at UMPI, there is no getting around that, but knowing what degree (and minor) could help us guide you with which courses you'll need to take at UMPI.

I might not have 40 technical credits for UMPI BAS.

I just went by this: Pierpont C&TC - Degree Forum Wiki (miraheze.org)

And I didn't go by this: Pierpont to UMPI Degree Plan - Degree Forum Wiki (miraheze.org)

I just got an associate's degree from Pierpont with the easiest courses I could find.

I think I still need courses like biology for UMPI. I can do the 40 technical credits at places like Sophia, Study.com, Coursera, etc. and anything needed for general education and elective courses from these websites too, if that's allowed after getting a Pierpont associate's degree? Like it mentions on this page: Pierpont to UMPI Degree Plan - Degree Forum Wiki (miraheze.org)

One thing I really wanted to know though for the 30 credits that I need to do at UMPI, I guess I can do 18 credits through a YourPace Information Systems minor, and for the remaining 12 credits that I need to do at UMPI, could I do these online? And which courses are recommended to do online at UMPI to satisfy the 12 credits that would be the easiest? And if you don't mind me asking how quickly could I complete the 12 credits? Thank you. I'm very thankful for any help I get on here.

Yes, you can still earn the remaining technical credits (and other Gen Eds) even after you've completed the Peirpont AAS, but you'll need the technical done and transferred in before you request a move from (example) BLS to BAS. Everything is completed online. The link I mentioned above (https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/UM...egree_Plan) can direct you on filling in those technical credits quickly and lowest cost; that wiki page was developed specifically as a path to the UMPI BAS. Another poster here recently earned the Pierpont in business while also earning the technical credits required, and they were able to move from a BLS to the BAS (they're starting UMPI this fall). The key is that they had an AAS and the technical credits (combined) - the AAS alone does not equate to technical credits automatically.

As far as how quickly depends on the student, and time they have to dedicate to getting the work needed done. Although there are many here who have completed everything at UMPI in a terms - it is generally advised to plan for 2 or 3 terms for the 30 credits. Which are easiest to complete also depend on the student, and their prior knowledge of a subject - however, there are threads here that provide reviews on courses (also the discord is a good resource that is always current).

The entire YourPace program is only available online. You'll need to complete all of the degree requirements. It's not as simple as just complete 12 credits in IS and 18 credits in PM. It doesn't work that way. You have to complete all of the GEC requirements, all of the general elective requirements, and all of the major and minor (if you have one) requirements. The only thing the AAS from Peirpont will do is waive the required high school transcript. And if you completed at least 40 technical credits - UMPI is VERY picky about these - then you can complete the BAS instead of the BLS. First you need to figure out which degree you want to complete at UMPI.

Decide for yourself, ultimately you may want to ladder that Bachelors up to the UMPI MAOL, it doesn't really matter which way you go, the BAS vs the BLS is up to you, you'll have to use more energy, time to get the BAS if you wanted. At the end of the day, you can take the 3-4 classes at UMPI that can go towards the MAOL later if you want to go that route.
