Noticed that the Facebook group for TESC shows "college and university" and I decided to guess the new domain. Look what got registered just before Christmas...

woooowwwwww, it could happen soon! Looks like it expires in the summer, so I'm guessing they'll either have to <beep> or get off the pot?

This is fun:
Domain Name: TESC.EDU
Registrant:

UNITED STATES
The July expiration of TESU.edu matches the expiration date of TESC.edu, so that's kinda cool.

Am still not sure how the name change will affect past graduates... What would happen in my case, if TESC were in my country, would have been to state my degree as BSBA Gen Mgt TESC now TESU. Am not sure how it works in the US. Is it the case that name change automatically confers university status and name on past graduates' degrees? Would ordering a tesc transcript and diploma after name change affect anything?

I experienced a name change at a college I attended. When I sent my transcripts to COSC, EC, and TESC for evaluations I was told that whatever the name of the institution was when I received credits, or had a degree conferred is the name of where such was rewarded, and the name that I should use. So on all my evaluations my credits from one brick and mortar looked like I attended two brick and mortars due to the name change that happened when I attended. I suspect TESC transcripts to list their new name of TESU, but on the back on of the transcript it will state something similar recognizing the name change:
Thomas Edison State University 2016 - Present
Thomas Edison State College 1972-2016
I see some Regents College graduates still noting they graduated from such, instead of (Excelsior College).

On what Thomas Edison will do - outside of the leadership staff, there is no telling how it will shake out for past graduates. My position on excitement would fall in line with:
Positive press for the school one graduated from is always good
State to University name change is well received (optics of an upgrade)
There has been interest from graduate members for the last 2 years and celebrating a stronger possibility felt right

I just have to say that I am super stoked about this name change! I've been to one other college that added "University" to it's name, but since I didn't finish there I guess that wasn't as big of a deal to me.
