Thanks and yes this forum has helped me a lot. Your CLEP scores are pretty impressive...not squeaking by with 50's I see. I'm sure your test taking abilities will be an asset should you decide to take the GMAT or GRE in the future. I wish I had those skills. Keep up the good work.

Taylor, Congratulations! cheersmate I look at it as your tax dollars hard at work--for you!Big Grin It is so much fun taking those mini courses. And in my opinion, they offer an excellent knowledge base for emergencies.

bricabrac, Thanks and congrats to you too! I believe you're almost done too. I agree those FEMA classes have a lot of useful knowledge that I can use in the real world. I enjoyed the subject matter much more than ALEKS. If I had to go through this process again I probably would've went with 1) FEMA 2) ALEKS 3)CLEPS and DSST in that order.

Now as long as I don't fail any of my current classes or something unforeseen happens during my degree audit I will be done with all my credits at the end of February but have to wait to get my official degree in June 2010. Now that I got some of this academic stuff out of the way I can work on my fitness again. What a relief! Cheers to you, jadechow, and rickyjo! I hope that's light beer we're drinking.

Awwww, thanks! My problem is that I tend to "overprepare". I treat each test like it's the holy grail of tests - which although it sounds ok - really just means that I probably could have prepped for and passed 2 in the same amount of time. :o

I am really envious of the folks on this board (and there are several that come to mind) who can "bang out" a test with only a couple of hours of prep. Now, that's confidence.

I am so glad that you are taking advantage of the FEMA credits. I remember just a short time ago suggesting them to you and your complete surprise that they even existed. It's nice to get something free for a change, huh? Doesn't happen often enough - that's for sure. Big Grin

Best to you,
Kelly

I can't believe the amount of classes, FEMA, ALEKS, etc. etc. you can take at one time. I am lucky I can handle one class at a time. With the test although my grades are not neard Jadechows I also over stress and over study.

You should be proud of how much you have accomplished in such a short time.cheersmate You deserve to have something easy like the FEMA'a even those I can only do one every couple of days or my mind just goes:puke:

Your scores are good too. I think you and jadechow have the smart approach when it come to CLEPS. Due to my haste to graduate swiftly, I admit I tried to squeak by in my first 3 CLEPS without studying or minimal studying and ended up failing all 3, dumbest move ever. After failing 3 CLEPS for 6 credits each, it did put me in panic mode. I did pass a DANTES right after. This is why I'm taking so many classes, FEMA, and ALEKS to make up for my previous failures. I guess the silver lining in taking more classes will be the grade factor, however if I had passed just 1 or 2 of the CLEPS my academic schedule would've been on cruise control. I wouldn't recommend what I did to most people since it's not the healthiest way to graduate. My hair color was jet black when I started, now I can be a spokesperson for Just For Men hair products. Good luck, I see your graduation is right around the corner too.

When you said my graduation was around the corner you gave me pause. I was going to say I would be happy if I can get it done in 2010. Then I decided to look at the TESC graduation dates and I have a problem. I REALLY want to be able to participate in a graduation ceremony. I have worked very hard and long for this and when I walked for my AA it was such a great experience I really wanted to come back and do it with the Black Gown.

Then I sat down and figured out what I would need to do in the next 5 months. If I don't get done by July 1, 2010 I can not walk in the Oct graduation. Even If i finish by the September deadline. I don't want to have to wait until Oct 2011 to walk:toetap: At my age I could be dead by then

So after I wasted most of 2009 only earning 12 credits now I would need to cram 30 credits (including FEMA) into 6 months. I just don't know if I can do it. With my family obligations and part time work it just seems overwhelming.:willynilly:

So I wasted the better part of a year and you wasted some CLEP test. I will cheer you along if you will do the same for me. Maybe we can make that walk together. Maybe I can study in my sleep. Or maybe my husband will get a job and I can stop working. OR best of all maybe the economy will pick up and I won't care:roflol:

Lindagerr,

You can do it! I decided last May that I wanted to graduate by the time my daughter finished high school....if I pass my last 2 Dantes (man that sounds good, never thought I would say that) and my last 3 classes, I will beat her by...2 weeks! I also want to walk and I didn't want to wait 'til next December so I am crawling to the finish line and I mean crawling. If I remember correctly, you have overcome a lot to get this far. Go for it!!!!

Linda, slow and steady wins the race. We all have our own pace in doing things according to our responsibilities and our lifestyles. 12 credits in a year is nothing to be ashamed of. Like you said you have family obligations and work. It seems like you have 26 credits left whether you finish in 2010 or 2011 probably won't be as significant as you think in the big scheme of things. The most important part is the finishing. I know sometimes being on this forum it feels like a race and I've experienced that too but what's great is we all have the same goal of finishing. I will definitely cheer you on to the finish line and I'm sure so will others.
