Test jammed during CLEP...
#1
Hi all!

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up... I had my CLEP test to jam, today...question 80 of 122!!! Thankfully, the test administrator was able to re-start my session and everything was saved (I was sweating at the thought of redoing my 80 questions). Smile The Admin said that they have seen that a lot lately...something to do with nation-wide changes that cause the jams??? Anyway, just wanted to share in case it happens to you!

Blessings!

I've never experienced that problem before, but I know something who had that same issue during a test years ago. Test admins are usually quick at fixing these problems, but that moment of waiting for the test to resume still couldn't have been a fun feeling.

I've had it happen (twice). Don't panic it seems to always re-start. No fun though!

This happened to me during a math CLEP, I was hot. I probably mumbled some unpleasant things. The proctor finally got it fixed (she didn't know much about CLEPs either).

As far as I know, there have not been any "nation-wide changes" to the CLEP exam delivery system. Computers are computers -- at some point, they will jam/freeze. For those who regularly take these exams on the computer, the systems are designed to automatically save your answer after each question (plus every 30 seconds for those who might take exams which require a writing segment). I have yet to see a candidate completely lose their answers after a computer freeze. I did have a situation where 2 candidates were in the middle of a huge writing segment (not a CLEP or DSST exam) when the testing program shut down briefly. Now that was a scary time! These gals were panicking, wondering if they had just lost all that they had typed since they had not moved on to the next question (another writing prompt). Both tests came up just fine, with one candidate just losing the last sentence she had typed.

From my years in the testing world, I have found that the candidate feeds off the vibe the proctor is giving off. If the proctor is panicked, the candidate will escalate in their panicked feelings. If the proctor is calm (and remembers their training), the candidate will usually come down from the stress they initially feel.
