It's only cheating if you GET CAUGHT!!! Right?
cookderosa Wrote:That is certainly against the policy of ALEKS, and would be considered cheating. ALEKS provides a calculator on screen which is all the help you need.

Speaking of cheating...I remember when I took my proctored exam at the local library, the lady gave me my package and told me to go sit over there in a table. I never saw her check on me once. I kind of respect that. She trusted me. And you know what? I didn't cheat. Not really my style. It's funny how this real world runs. There are alot of cheaters out there that do what they do to get what they get. Some probably never get caught. I knew one guy i worked around with long time ago. One day, I learned online that he was busted for passing fraudulent documents for illegal licensing. I don't know what became of that guy, but I know that they had a supena for him. Here he listed himself as having degrees, ect....different licenses, and now he was involved in fraud with others involved. Now you gotta wonder how he gained his degrees and if he was honest about the way he obtained his credentials. Sooner or later, the bottom feeders expose their work. Don't get caught in the dishonesty of anything. Keep your concious clean.

Don't waste time by trying to save time. The only sure way to complete your degree is to knock out credits quickly and efficiently.
Don't let easiness bite you in the rear. Know your endgame (where you want to be) and plan backward from there. Your education is a means to an end.
Be honest professionally, socially and academically. There are people (especially little ones) who look up to you and they're going by your example.
Be proud. Whether you're an Engineer or Fast Food worker, there is honor and dignity in hard work.
Picking on people weaker than you only proves that you are a weak person.

I don't think I would ever have seen that again in a million years, now looking at the possibility of doing a higher college alg through Aleks. Don't think an assessment would do me any good. The screen will just reboot freak out and say....."YOU BELONG HERE DUNCE! PAGE NEGATIVE ONE"!
(Not trying to short myself or sound negative and I know I need to give it a try which I will once I know what's going down with TESC here shortly).
My BEGINNING ALGEBRA assessment (the class under the one you are taking) was 11%. So what? Just start where you are, print out the help pages, and move forward. You can do it. Maybe not in a month, but you can do it.

What you do is between you and your conscience, but I take issue with it being encouraged/endorsed/accepted/ here. Resourceful people will always find a way to do what they need to do to get what they want to get.

Got the credit on my TESC transcript for Intermediate Algebra from ALEKS. It came over as MAT-115. Filled my College math requirement. Sent the transcript through ACE on the 8/27/12 and posted today 9/10/12. Two weeks.
Now need to get my 16 FEMA credits transferred over and study for the Spanish CLEP for another 12 credits. Then onto English Comp CLEP which I am very nervous about.
