TESU multiple degrees / residency question
#1
Hello, I'm new to TESU and have been visiting the website and reading this forum a lot in the past few days.
My question is about the residency requirement of 15 credits.
If I want to get multiple Bachelors degrees through TESU, do I have to take at least 15 credits with TESU for each one of those degrees (to avoid paying the residency waiver fee)?
Or if I take 15 credits with them, and then meet all the other requirements for different degrees, can I just take the Capstone and Cornerstone course for each of the other degrees and avoid the residency waiver?

@Sean1234, Welcome to the board. It's great you've started reviewing the forum and have asked questions to find the answers you're looking for. Having said that, it may be better to fill in the addendum/template here to give readers more details on what you're trying to do. Finding answers are great, but if that answer isn't going to help you 'finish' your goal, then the educational journey wouldn't be as fun as you would have wanted... Anyways, please provide a bigger or greater overview of your current situation with information in this addendum/template: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...Area-works

To answer your question, the 15 residency credits is good for all of your desired studies at TESU, up to 2 Associates, 2 Bachelors, and any number of Certificates you want to complete. If you decide to pay the residency waiver fee, it's only good for a first Bachelors (and anything you get with it at the same time, or before you get that first Bachelors degree, you will need to pay an additional residency waiver if you go for a second bachelors degree, note you can only have 2 associates, 2 bachelors)

Well I found the degree(s) I'm interested in. I'm going to apply and send my transcripts to see what they offer.
BSBA in Operations Management
And I'm going to see what all I would have to take to pick up my AAS in Electrical-Mechanical Systems and Maintenance, and AAS in Military Technology Leadership along the way.
The only classes in the BSBA Operations Management that I saw that I don't have or aren't offered by Study.com are APS-4020 Applied Quality Management, and OPM-4150 Logistics, along with the Capstone and Cornerstone.
The TESU website is vague about what is required for the AAS degrees:
"Complete 18 credits in the Military Technology Leadership area and the 3 credit Capstone course. For course options, please contact an academic advisor."
"Complete 18 credits in the Electrical-Mechanical Systems and Maintenance area and the 3 credit Capstone course. For course options, please contact an academic advisor."

That's great, apply, send in the transcripts, see what they say... If you mentioned you were active military earlier in your first post, I would have mentioned to skip the 15 credit residency and go for the 24 credit residency for much cheaper using TECEP (18 credits) and your final cornerstone, capstones.

Further to that, you can go for a BSBA General Management or another Area of Study. Add to that the Operations Management Cert instead. There are several AOS that have the same courses required as their corresponding certs, but not all of the AOS have a cert such as Entrepreneurship and International Business.

It really depends on what you need and want, there are different ways of playing the degree hacking game and getting the most ROI or Value, and mixing/matching it with the cheap, easy, fast options recommended. What I like to do in addition to all of that, is to personalize it as well to the study habits of the student.

The BSBA isn't available anymore in all AOS options (such as GM) - it would now be a BSGM - see this most recent thread - https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...e-nonsense

They started my transfer credit evaluation. They've got everything except my Study.com courses so far.
And I must say, TESU is MUCH MUCH MUCH more generous than Excelsior and UMPI at granting transfer credit.
Once they post my Study.com credits I will post the results for help in planning the best path forward utilizing military TA as much as possible.

I'd be curious for an exact comparison between TESU and Excelsior specifically. People who have a lot of prior credit are often directed to Excelsior for various reasons. But if they're becoming less transfer friendly, that's important.

"TESU is MUCH MUCH MUCH more generous than Excelsior" Can you create pdf/screenshots of the evaluations? Link us to them (make sure to remove personal details). UMPI only accepts at max 90 credits for transfer, Excelsior accepts 113 and TESU will do 114 at most... it really depends if your classes hits the requirements, an example is that you can have 200 credits, and none of them are upper level, thus won't hit any of those upper level required for any of these three institutions... We will wait for your Study.com evaluation to come through, let see if TESU is more favorable then...

I spoke too soon. I feel as though I was shorted on 3 classes:
1) Chemistry 1 Lab - They wouldn't accept Sophia Chemistry Lab
2) English Comp 2 - They wouldn't accept SDC English Comp 2
3) Principles of Managerial Accounting LL - They wouldn't accept SDC Managerial Accounting UL.

Can anyone explain how getting multiple degrees works? What the overlap requirements / limits are. This is all the academic advisor told me, "Yes, you can pursue a second bachelors but in the Grander Scheme of things you should concentrate your efforts on One Bachelors and then pursue a Graduate Degree. You need to be aware that you will only be able to overlap 6sh in each Area of Study. "

Which English Comp did you take? There are two. If you took English 205, I'd file an appeal because it's listed as being accepted. https://study.com/college/school/thomas-...rsity.html Same with Managerial Accounting, which one did you take?
