Hello,
Does anyone know of a class that can transfer in to take TESU's Oral Communication requirement in Gen Ed? I am deaf and nearly all the options (just noticed even Sophia), Davar, Study.com, etc all require you to make videos to SPEAK or accurately LISTEN.
ADA typically requires alternatives to be provided.

Hey ashkir, I've been reading your posts, I applaud you for working hard on the degree plan in a previous thread. Since you're going for a TESU degree, they will take the Study.com (SDC) Presentation Skills for the Workplace for the Oral Communications requirement - even though there is no presentation or speech component.

I just got Study.com - Communications 120 - Presentation Skills in the Workplace listed on my TESU transcript eval in the Oral comm section. The only requirement is quizzes, a final exam, and to make a slide presentation. You don't need to watch the videos to pass the course. I watched none of them and just used the text. Very easy course.
I took this class specifically to avoid the video recordings.

You may be able to contact TESU and have that requirement waived on ADA grounds. You'd then need to make it up with a different GenEd elective.
Failing that, the SDC Comm 120 course that the others mentioned is probably your best bet to meet the requirements without needing to make a pre-recorded video presentation. Assuming they still accept the course to meet that requirement after all the change over the last couple of years.

Presentation skills in the Workplace is super easy. The lack of a video requirement is a huge bonus to me. I am not deaf but I have a "thing" about having to be on camera. I don't even like proctoring!
By the way, it's not a thing with SDC because they use RPNow but ProctorU does generally require that you're able to hear the proctor on the other end. It's something to keep in mind for the future. I don't know what kind of accommodations you'll be able to get with ProctorU.

I had to do an exam recently and for whatever reason I couldn't hear her, but she could hear me. If she needed me to something she'd wave to get my attention and then type. It was worked. (Or my proctor was just really nice and wanted to let me take my test).

I will contact TESU about getting a waiver for the class, failing that I'd do COMM120 at Study.com. I appreciate it.
ProctorU does in fact have deaf tools available

Have you contacted TESU about this? I would write to them - calling maybe not be an option for you - and ask them for an accommodation due to your disability. Get it all in writing so you have proof if someone gives you a hard time later.

Looks like they do have an appeal/waiver process for ADA. I emailed them to ask if I can get one
