I will be taking the Capstone Course later this year.
For those of you who have taken it, how would you rate its difficulty?
From the syllabus, it seems that it has the longest essay paper out of all TESU courses that I have taken so far.
It seems to me that there are (several discussion posts) + four assignments that all help and lead up to the final paper on a chosen topic.
I think the entire course just leads up to completing the final paper. This may be incorrect since I have not taken it.
Based on the syllabus, it does not seem difficult, just seems lengthy.
Any pointers?

My two sons are taking it starting in June. From what I have read here, it is quite time consuming. It is possible to do another course at the same time, but it should be an easier course. There is a big midterm exam that is a bit to worry about from what I read. You have a textbook that you have to read that includes case studies for many businesses. Most weeks the reading is around 20 pages, but they are supposed to be interesting. There are also online discussion questions that are supposed to be a bit detailed too. Not just your regular discussion questions. I think the choice of a thesis is part of what makes things difficult. You want to find something that has enough information already available, or you will have to create surveys, etc. to prove your point.

Depends on how good you are at research and writing research papers. If you have never done it before, I think it's hard, especially if you want to get an A or A-.
I think the amount of effort required depends a lot on the grade someone wants and their existing abilities.
If you have a topic you're really interested in or have prior knowledge about, that will help. If you are good at writing regular papers, that will help too.
Can also depend a little on who you have as a mentor.
The oral presentation portion can be pretty stressful for some people.

I saw few courses specifically for academic research papers, but they were intended for PhD candidates only. Also there were quite pricy.
Dont understand why it should be such a mission to learn how to write research papers. It must be open for anyone who is interested.
But then academic research is a money making business... sad

You need special permission to sign up for the Capstone too. My sons tried, and it would not let them fully sign up until they were granted permission.

100 credits and english composition 1 and 2 are needed to sign up.
I am taking the BA capstone. they have two assessment tests worth 15 percent of the course. I am thinking about how I should be preparing of the two assessments.

How you prepare for the assessment tests is to drink exactly 2 shots of Tequila and chase it down with your choice of drink.
Don't waste your time doing extra stuff.

I see you are graduating in June.
So did you just go blind and hoped for the best on the two assessments?

Recently finished the LIB 495 capstone. Helping prepare ahead of time?? I did not have a major that required the ETS Major Field assessment. This is on tesu site if you need to know ahead of time

I just had to do the Written Communication Assessment. On first day of class access you'll have the topics of that writing, and the due date for it. It's a short assignment. Did not have to research for this one. Follow the instructions. Write about what it says to answer. You'll be fine. Prep work? make sure you can write sentences in English. It is not a timed writing if that helps you. Student only does either Major Field or Written. not both.
The other assessment is the ETS proficiency profile. This assessment is not designed to be studied ahead of time. Example questions are in the materials. Best prep stuff? make sure your internet connection is good. Relax and answer all the questions. I drank water instead of alcohol. wink. TESU provides some info in the public view parts of syllabus. here

That's what you need to know ahead of time. Had to take this in community college and again at tesu. it's easier than the ACT was.
TESU: BALS June 2021 (comm college, clep, sdc sophia coopersmith, SOS110, and capstone)
