TESU BA psychology
#1
Asking for my daughter: for the BA psych, which classes are NOT currently available via our usual routes . I think someone mentioned that Coopersmith offers some of them as UL still? Are there a lot that would require a more pricy independent study class somewhere?

Only the capstone and ethics in the social sciences need to be taken at TESU, none of the others need expensive alternatives. Study, Coopersmith, uexcel, TECEP, etc will take are of you

I’ve seen some people say on here that study.com might be getting an ACE approved UL ethics in social sciences course up & running a little down the road so you might want to save that one for last in case they do.

I was waiting to update my Spreadsheet until we found out if any other providers got downgraded like Study.com did, but I haven't seen any others impacted so I guess I should get on that

Cool, thanks. She is still too young, so we won't start for a couple of years anyway
But that is exciting!

I have a question reg the 15 Upper Level credits required for BA-Psychology. I have completed 3 UL courses so far: Psychology of Personality, History & systems, Organizational Theory. In my first academic evaluation, which was done only recently, TESU has placed Org. Theory and Psych. of Personality as AOS electives. History & Systems has been included in the main AOS. Now, I am almost about to complete a 4th UL course- I/O Psychology. I am presuming this will now feature in the Additional Electives section, where 21 credits are required. My question is, if these UL credits will be discarded as not being part of the AOS? If you have an UL credit that applies to the field of Psychology, but happens to be included in the Additional electives section, will it still be considered as part of the 15 UL credits? Or should the UL credits necessarily be one of the AOS requirements stated by TESU? Anyone has any experience with this?

For the fifth UL course, I plan to take the Abnormal Psychology Uexcel exam. This is part of the AOS; so I will have no problems with it.

There is currently a LL Ethics in Social Sciences course on SDC approved for ACE credits.

The AOS is the only place where UL courses are required and 18 UL credits are required for BA Psychology. Three of them come from the capstone but the other 15 can come from section II-A (Required Courses) or II-C (Psychology electives).

So yes, UL courses in the Psychology Electives section should be counted as part of the 18 credits of UL credits required. Gen Ed courses and credits applied to section III (Electives) do not count.

Thank you Merlin. My question is that the I/O Psychology course I am taking will feature neither in the required courses section, nor among the AOS electives. It will most probably be included in the additional electives section that follows the AOS electives. As of now, my TEEX, Sophia courses etc feature here.

If it is applied to section III (Electives) then it will not count towards the 18 UL credits. Only credits that are applied to section II (Area of Study) will count. You can use the degree map (https://www.tesu.edu/heavin/ba/psychology) to help you see this visually.

In my academic evaluation, there are three electives sections:
Gen-Ed electives (18) , AOS electives (6) & Additional Electives (21).
Two of my UL courses have been included as AOS electives. One other course has been included in the requirements section. I am presuming the 4th will come as an additional elective.
