Has anyone rec'd credit from TESC for Aleks Business Statistics as the statistics requirement for BSBA?
I completed Business Statistics through Alek and it was transcripted through AceNet. I am officially enrolled at TESC and thought I was almost finished. My TESC evaluation says I still need statistics (BSBA General Management).
They put Business Statistics under Upper Level Business (OPM-351) ** where my TECEP Sales Management (MAR-322) should be.
They list my expensive Sales Management TECEP as a GMS elective credit (9 sh required).***
It would be helpful to know if others have recâd the necessary math/statistics credit for Alex Business Statistics (008) before I call and plead my case to advising.
Thanks,
Dan

Research the ALEKS threads here. If I'm not mistaken you have to take Intro to Stats or higher for it to count at most of the schools as a stats class. I'm currently taking Intro to Stats with ALEKS for EC as my stats requirement. That being said if you have finished the business stats you should be able to knock out the Intro to stats fairly quickly on ALEKS to get what you need. Good luck!

I remember some here that got credit under her Business degree at TESC and they gave her in the BSBA, OPM-351 is an UL Bus. course within the major.
Hope this helps.

Well, that's where they posted it for me, but that's NOT where I want or need it. If I could do it all over, I would choose Intro to Stats, but the Business option sounded more 'business' oriented. I started it when the whole Aleks thing was developing and there was not clear info. Also, it was not possible to get an answer from TESC when I wasn't yet officially enrolled, and the Aleks thing was still relatively unknown and not understood by them.
I went to the Aleks website, dl the pdf of the course descriptions and compared them line by line. They are identical! If anything, it looks like there are a few more modules added to Business Stats in the time series and quality control. But frankly, this could be an omission by Aleks. I've seen something similar in a few other class options.
So, I opened a ticket and attached both course descriptions making an appeal based on the fact they are identical courses. (Seems like just a marketing thing to me to give them different names.)
I'll keep you posted.
This course took me a long time. I finished it months and months ago. And I do NOT want to go back and do it over under a different name!

I dunno about ALEKS, I did Trig (just finished this weekend) and Stats a few months ago, and they accepted both for me, and asked which others if any I was planning on doing... but I don't need anymore this time around.
Aside from that if you have any questions, concerns or "Are you sure about that's" regarding your eval, call your advisor, or email a support ticket.
Everytime I've had my record updated, stuff gets moved to odd places (so much so that if it would have stood as is this last time, ONE science credit which I all ready HAD and which had been on there previously... would have kept me from graduating... but they accidentally put things in weird places...)
They eventually fixed it, and now all is well, but it took me watching my eval like a hawk and pestering my advisor. After I pestered them they reviewed it again... and fixed everything. My advisor actually did a second review after they "fixed" it, and moved MORE around for me so I needed less credits overall.
To be honest, the school has been a pain in my ass,and my advisor can be a jerk sometimes, but in cases like these, it's better to have a jerk on your side who sticks up for you...rather than... someone who is either clueless, or working against you.

So... how and when were you assigned an advisor? Did you have to request this? I'm officially enrolled and have never been signed an advisor. I just submit trouble tickets. So far, I have 3 pages worth.
And yes, I watch my evaluation 'like a hawk'. It comes with the territory.

Thank you, Lord!
Just rec'd the great news from TESC (after SEVERAL tickets and appeals) that Aleks Business Statistics will indeed complete my BSBA Statistics math requirement.
I sent the pdfs of both courses (Business and Intro) from the Aleks websites. The list of topic covered is almost identical. The difference with Business is that the applications (examples in the teaching) are more business oriented (what I want, right?)
So...be forewarned... when looking to complete the statistics/math requirement portion of your degree with an Aleks course - choose Intro to Stats - NOT Business.
They said they made an 'exception'. Here is how it looks on my course evaluation: (Loving that word 'Completed'!)
G: Statistics (Completed)
> Complete 3 semester hours in introductory statistics.

What is 'based on CD'?
My guess is Course Description.
