TESC Leading the New Jersey Prior Learning Assessment Network
#1
I think I first saw this story in one of TESC's magazines that they mail out.

Quote:Thomas Edison State College, the state's college for adults, will lead a new consortium of schools interested in offering prior learning assessments. Thomas Edison, which mostly offers online courses and degrees, is one of the national leaders in the use of the assessments and will help guide the group.

The other schools joining the new consortium are: Essex County College, New Jersey City University, New Jersey Institute of Technology and Rowan University.

George Pruitt, president of Thomas Edison State College, said about 20 other colleges and universities are in talks to join the group.

I read some stuff about TESC's "behind-the-scenes" work with other schools and was impressed with their involvement in higher education, especially with other NJ state schools. George Pruitt, the long-time President, is actually the current Chairman of the Middle States Association and earned his doctorate through non-traditional means. It's always good to see them in the news for a good reason, unlike another NJ state school (Kean) which was in the news a few years ago for all the wrong reasons... they tried to go private, faculty voted out the president, the NCAA put them on probation and then even the Middle States Association put them on probation... imagine being one of the PR staff!
