Macro and Micro are very doable if you do the following:
Use the online resources for the course textbook. If you do nothing else, review the online chapter quizzes before taking the Straighterline Chapter exam.
Macro here Limits, Alternatives, and Choices
Micro here Limits, Alternatives, and Choices
Since these sites are the online companions for the recommended books, it shouldn't come as a surprise that the online chapter quizzes...
The textbooks happen to be very good, so it might make sense to purchase USED copies from $7.00 here Amazon.com: Used and New: Macroeconomics
or here Amazon.com: Used and New: Microeconomics -Text Only
You might figure out at some point that achieving a 92% pass rate is substantially harder than achieving a 70% pass rate. What I mean is 50% of questions are easy-fairly easy, 20% of questions are medium hard, 30% of questions are hard. If your goal is merely to pass and go the ACE route, you will make it, while learning the material....if your goal is to make 90% plus, transfer the results to FHSU so that you can get graded A's transcripted before forwarding to TESC, then you will need to spend more time, although it is achievable.
Did I mention that you should review the online chapter quizzes before you take the SL chapter exams?
Good luck!

Geezer,
YOU ROCK!!!!!
Happy New Year! and Thank You!
bb
quick update: I spoke to the advisor at SL and confirmed macro is in fact 19 quizzes worth 40pts each for total 760 pts. You do NOT have to do the two chapter exercises as they are optional and do not count towards final grade. Give it some time for the new guy to break in...he gives incorrect info initially. Steer him to ask someone for clarity. Geez.
Happy 2010!!

For micro, would you have to earn 70% on EVERY quiz, or just a course total of 70%? In other words, what if you fail a quiz?

It is cummulative, so if the total needed to pass the course with a 70% is 700, then any combination of quiz results that combine to reach 700 will do.

So happy to hear that, I think I'm signing up my hubby today- he is sweating the micro CLEP big time.

Hi Geezer,
Do you know if the points earned for the Introduction to StraighterLine Course test are added at the end? I find it strange that this pre-req introductory test was graded and the chapter quizzes are not.
I had to pay another month so I'm now taking my time; only seven more chapters to go! I have to say my tests scores have improved drastically by both having a break from studying for cleps and being done with the stress of completing the associates degree. Now have a month without additional dsst/clep study so am taking advantage.
Thanks!
bb

19 exams x 40 points each = 760 total points
All that is counted are the 19 exams. I just finished right around 1 week including waiting for my book and being sick for 3 days. I was working on 3-4 tests per day.
It was the one CLEP I wanted to take but didn't want to fail. I did it through straighterline even though CLEPs are free for me and I am glad it is done.

Hi JB, Wow! One week! I guess I will have to just admit I'm not too bright when it comes to this subject. Oh well.:o
Congrats on getting it done so quickly! 3-4per day is impressive...I've been averaging 2 a week. Are you going to do micro as well?
Thanks for the info!!!
